    September would have been my last payment. Number 120 for PSLF. My job is soul crushing. My health is failing. I found other employment, but cant accept because of all of this. Even if buy back is possible in a year...my prison sentence at my job is being extended until that happens. Plus the 90 business days to process a PSLF application. This is damaging people's lives.

      I am wondering if people in your situation would have a class action lawsuit based on a contract theory: detrimental reliance. If you find an attorney willing to do this, please let us know.

      Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. Hold on. Because at least you are closer than some people. And you definitely deserve your PSLF buy back - you earned it!!! Hope this gets resolved soon for you. I have more time to go.

      Call President Biden, tell whomever answers the phone why you are calling. She will transfer you to him if he is in the office. If he is not in the office, she will give you his direct email portal. Write everything you just wrote here, especially about your health. Do not wait. Do it now because if Trump ends up back in that office, he has already said he will overturn everything President Biden has done to help student loan borrowers cancel, discharge, or forgive their student loans.
      There are good reasons to forgive these loans: the pandemic (which Trump allowed to happen), disabilities, inflation, unemployment, college/university scams, teachers and doctors who did not get forgiveness for working in lower socioeconomic environments as promised, entities that did not post student borrowers' payments, etc.
      Due to your situation, your student loans, for sure, will be canceled, discharged, or forgiven. Next, vote for Harris/Walz and all Democrats for everything, especially in the House of Representatives and the Senate, because they are all on the same page regarding forgiving all student loans. Republicans keep filing lawsuits to stop Biden/Harris' forgiveness of all student loans.
      Democrats said if Republicans can use our taxes to bail out the rich and large corporations, why shouldn't student loan borrowers use their own taxes to forgive their student loans? You have paid your taxes your entire adult life, and the rich and large corporations have not when Republicans are in control!

    What are chances of the Buyback program being challenged in court just like SAVE??? How is the Buyback being considered a safety net or a viable option to recover months that should have counted.

    As far as double consolidation for Parent Plus Loans, What are you recommending for those of us who have completed the first round of consolidation, but were waiting on the online consolidation option to be turned back on for the 2nd round of consolidation? Thanks!

      You can do a paper app if you'd prefer not to wait! The account numbers and details are in studentaid.gov in the loan detail section

      Do the second round through mail as well if online isn't available, it means more paperwork, but it's sure to be counted!

    I’ve been told that they are trying to verify my July PSLF form that I turned in. At first it said I had 16 more payments back in April towards my 120 payments now it says 32 more I really don’t know what I need to do

    I just get how it’s a mandatory forbearance but doesn’t count for PSLF

    • @tiffanysteen1845
      @tiffanysteen1845 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It should count toward pslf these darn forebearances keep us in debt longer while interest continued

    • @malstarrainbow
      @malstarrainbow 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What I’m doing is still paying. Because I read on the student aid website when the forbearance is over they go back and count the payments. I don’t really need to miss a month. They got me in July. But once I found out what was happening I paid in August and September. I’m also going to pay in October. All I know is this sucks. Just trying to pay my bill actually and they are in the way of it.

    My guess is those “random dates” of July 18 and Aug. 9 coincide with the court rulings saying the “SAVE plan” is unconstitutional.

    How do we group sue for not counting this ‘forced forebearance’ as accounting towards our forgiveness time?!

    • @wallihaley5194
      @wallihaley5194 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think maybe there’s a lawsuit based on the contract theory of “detrimental reliance.” I am not sure who should be sued, though. The individual loan program? The government?

    I regret going to grad school. The only way to do it was to take out loans. The loans ruined my life. I've worked in public interest. I actually have 120 payments, but they are "in review" and nobody will count them.

    I've emailed FSA twice regarding buyback since March to no avail. I was throwing a hail Mary trying to buyback periods of deferment from the past. They are preconsolidation periods (18 months worth) but we were basically told to consolidate to get the highest payment amount. I don't regret many things in life but that recent consolidation burns every time I think about it. I would've been done with these loans in March. Now that student loans have become so political, who knows what will happen. I hate it here lol

      Sorry man, but everyone’s situation is different. I hope you got a decent amount of months added with the consolidation to make it worth it. I got 10 months worth, but only could have bought back 2 months. So for me consolidation was better than buyback. You can’t buyback preconsolidated periods so I wouldn’t waste your times. Also, you can’t just email them, there’s specific instruction on StudentAid to make the buyback request

    • @tdub226
      @tdub226 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nhut8787 I went through the FSA complaint/reconsideration process as you're supposed to but again, it was a hail mary. The consolidation was not worth it because it was only about 3/4 months of added payments for me. At the same time, buyback wasn't even an idea then so no one knew. I just wanted to get closer to forgiveness at that time and EVERYONE was recommending consolidation. Well, I'll just keep holding on and pay as they allow us.

    Ok. I submitted an IBR application (to change from SAVE), and MOHELA received it as of August 26 (per USPS and MOHELA both). MOHELA still refused to process the application as of the first week of September. I filed a complaint with FSA, who sincerely DOES NOT CARE ONE BIT. I also requested MOHELA put me on a processing pause so I could get PSLF credit for my full time nonprofit job.
