One of the main things about the game is the more you build the more and bigger mutants will attack your base. Find and kill Turtles ASAP and get the shells so you can get water collectors, You can also find kettles at a couple of campfires that you can use to collect and boil water. Otherwise, gather up materials and explore the caves(they are somewhat meant to be explored in order so you'll quickly realize you're lacking equipment to explore some of them. You can make map marker thingies and set up at points of interest and color code them. I recommend not building 2 close to mutant villages as they have roaming parties that spawn at intervals and patrol around them. They also have some preset patrol paths they take around almost the entire Island so observing these wandering patterns before you place down a main camp can be very useful. The mutants will not swim so you can build a little houseboat and be have a relatively safe zone if you really need some PnQ at some point. Kill rabbits and make berry pouch ASAP as well. Combine cloth to make rope. Very important. If you hover your cursor over the cog in the crafting menu it'll show you whatever you can craft with the material you've placed on your tarp. You can also turn on ....regeneration or whatever it's called where bushes and trees'n such will regrow over time somewhere in the gameplay menu. And as I'm sure you'll figure out, quite often probably, it's very easy to set yoself on fire :p
The enemy ai set up patrols on certain parts of the island and if a patrol comes across youre base they’ll alert the village It’s not ideal for you to be hacking and slashing the enemies because then they know you’re a threat and raids will start appearing when you have a base set up. There’s a map for the whole island online and it’s interactive, it shows patrols, caves, villages and the such
Wolf here are some tips. 1 when you use the drying rack it will cook the food and give you more food then cooking on the fire but it takes a while. 2 If you have a turtle shell equip it and go to a hill, jump up put the turtle shell under you, and squeeze the trigger. You’ll see what happens
Final tip once you kill a cannibal BURN IT collect the bones of your enemies and use them against more enemies and collect more. Bones can make armor, arrows, and a upgraded spear.
This is on sale at the moment for ps4. It's the flat view version. I watched all of these and had more fun watching wolf and frog playing the game than I would have playing it by myself. Brilliant

I've actually had a crescent of like 8 of them follow me almost clean across the island without ever attacking because I pretty much ignored them. They often tend to just observe. They react to what you have in your hand, what you're wearing, if you're running/walking(running tends to trigger aggression).

For bases I recommend the beach where the boat is since you can set your spawn at the boat and use it as a fall back space and plus you can use boats to escape well the ones you make.
