How to: Slick Back Natural Hair Without Gel

  • "Gel Alternative"
    I use this method to slick back my hair and i love the results. My hair stays nicely in place & this alternative controls all the frizz. To achieve this look i did not use gel because although gel can give a nice sleek look it's not the best product for hair. Using this method/alternative when i take my hair down from a hairstyle it was in my hair remains soft & still has movement. With using gel... afterwards it can leave hair feeling very crunchie, dry and flakey. This method/alternative works amazing for me and i hope it does for you too, all the best♥♥♥

      ryan zachery Dear Sir, Eco Styler Gel is LACED with alcohols to the Max! Carbomer being the main ingredient, is derived from petroleum/Petrochemicals; Ethelyne Glycol, Propanol, Propylene Glycol are all types of alcohols. Please research it.

      @@traci.so.random3457 I use to think the same thing. I've been natural for 10 years but recently started using vaseline. My hair comes out amazing. Stays soft nice n moisturized. That's what my mamma used n my hair was the bomb back then. Idk why I ever got away from it

    Dax? Wouldn't it be better to use gel? Well, aloe vera gel at least. Shea butter sounds like a nice idea. Another tip is to tie a scarf for 10 mins instead of a brush after smoothing hair with an aloe vera gel/castor oil mixture. Beautiful hair btw!

  • @liveloveGlam
    @liveloveGlam  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Hun!
    Not to worry, if your hair is thicker then mine i'd say use shea butter. Shea butter can give a really nice hold & 100% raw natural shea butter should not clog ur pores :) The dax i used is very light weight but it does give a nice hold, but for thicker hair or a sleeker look, try shea butter!
    & I wish i could post more frequently(my aim is 1 video a week.) So when i cant post i love interacting with my subbies & helping anyone out the best i can! Thank-you so much for your comment♥

    Castor oil is an alternative. It seems to be 'natural' but could clog your pores if left in for more than a day and has a scent that is not pleasant to everyone. Still looking! Your thoughts?

  • @liveloveGlam
    @liveloveGlam  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yup now i know, at the time i didn't. So that's why i left a disclaimer a few seconds in saying:

    Sorry, wish i could have helped! I guess everyone has a different idea of slicked back hair. Depending on your hairtype( tight curls: 3c-4c) this method will show your waves, but if your hair is looser then there wont be waves(or very subtle ones.)

    Just my humble opinion...I don't think people voted the video down because of your texture or mixed chicks. It may be because you did a video to show people how to slick their hair down with your hair already slicked down. Would have been nice if you started off with hair that wasn't already slicked down. Thank-you SO much for your comment, i definitely value your opinon & i took it into consideration. It's funny because i didn't slick back my hair beforehand i literally just pulled it back with the widetooth comb i showed & that was it, nothing special. BUT i can see how it can looked as if i started off with hair that was 'slicked back.'
