The prosecution did themselves in. They were going for that slam dunk conviction. I would have even gone so far as to find him guilty of voluntary manslaughter, just because of how irresponsible he was, but 1st degree murder is a bridge too far. Nobody picks up a gun in anger, and then is meticulous in thought enough to decide to start firing from the ceiling, swing the arm down to the floor, and shoot their intended victim in the shot in between. However, I'll conceed that there really is no way to know those shots weren't fired after the shooting. Even then, that's REASONABLE DOUBT.

He had a jury trial. 12 regular citizens heard all of the evidence, and all 12 believed this was an accident, based on the science and forensics, and all the other evidence they heard. That has to mean something. We just watched a 20 min summary of what happened. The prosecution screwed up by overcharging him, when the evidence pointed to an accident. They should have put involuntary manslaughter on the table. He said himself if they would have charged him with involuntary manslaughter, he would have took a plea deal bc he was guilty of that. But the prosecution was arrogant.
It's a tragedy for every single person this touched.
