You can tell Jawbox was definetely an influence. This band saved my life. Around 2018 I was really close to suicide and the first time I heard 'Killing Queens' really made me think of my Mom. She died two months prior after a 3.5 year battle with ALS. I have an excellent imagination and I basically attributed the lyrics to the pain I was dealing with. It made me feel like I wasn't alone anymore.
First heard you all in the passenger seat of a car in the dead of night in the middle of nowhere and it was instant gratification. You may not know you’re missing something until it’s there. That’s this band for me. Please never stop. So much unending love from KC. ❤
This is why Audiotree is so great ... I've never heard of these guys and now I LOVE them. Great set, really creative songwriting .... Wow! And not for nothing, the host of this show was amazing ... great questions, paced the interview really well and you can tell that she did her show prep. Big shout out to Audiotree, The Live and Times and the host of this amazing set.
To anyone who hasn't heard The Life and Times before, I highly recommend their previous album "Lost Bees" as an entry point to the band. It's much more groovy, intricate, and of course has amazing drumming. Their 2017 self titled is actually a good counterpoint to Lost Bees. This new material is much more dour, chord-y and fuzzed out. Anyway, excellent band and I hope everyone checks out their stuff.
I'd say Tragic Boogie as the entry and end point lol, can't name a bad record of these guys but their latest is probably my least favorite, still a good one don't get me wrong, but they've done really amazing stuff in the past that it must be really hard to keep up.
Nice I just stumbled across this and kept listening because I felt like it definitely had the potential to have some groovy sounding stuff not that this isn't good but not a go to listening vibe
I'm older than stone older than the golden indies and these guys would have been legendary in the 80s the 90s and now are timeless. Majestic stuff, guys.
great set from one of my most highly anticipated audiotree jams, but as much as i usually love the mix, this session disappointed me a bit. the toms are totally buried in the mix, which is a HUGE bummer for as much as chris moves around his kit. and there's parts where for sure the guitar mic musta been cutting out or muted. in group think right out the gate, the higher parts he's playing are almost totally inaudible. sadface. anyhow, thanks for giving these dudes some much, much deserved spotlight. one of the best bands putting it down in the world today.
Welp, fuck me. I have Audiotree notifications but somehow I missed this from 2 years ago? Life and Times & Shiner are bands that I never miss when they tour the West Coat. The mix is a bit fucked up on this upload, but it's TLAT & who am I to complain....go shred fellas!
You could say that, but that's how The Life And Times sound on albums too. That's the sound they use, which is pretty usual for bands in the noisy, shoegazey kind of rock. But yes, I would also prefer the vocals a little louder, a little more upfront.
he doesn’t owe you/us anything. Plus, Shiner’s released a new album and he’s done his solo album, so he has released 2 new albums. And i’m fairly certain there’ll be another Shiner album this year too.
Yes, snare sounds really awful compared to their studio stuff and Chris tunes really high indeed. This mix wasn't that good but man, Chris' playing is always god tier.

Why would anyone downvote this? WTF! Is it because of Allen's amazing tone? Jealous of Chris' drumming? Eric's handsomeness?
My guess would be all 3....smh
This band saved my life.

Fantastic live as usual!

Yeah, Lost Bees is a great album!

Dan Thale Tragic Boogie is their best!
Uhh no one's gonna mention where this all started, SHINER?!
Nice I just stumbled across this and kept listening because I felt like it definitely had the potential to have some groovy sounding stuff not that this isn't good but not a go to listening vibe

Much love from KC. I'm glad y'all are still killing it!
Wonderful meeting and hosting you all! Come back soon
This is you... from here? Adorable. I'm speechless. Plus my favorite band? Hmm.
One of my favorite bands ever. Can't wait to see them 5/16 in Austin.
Dope. Really glad to hear good, loud music again. Thank you.
Awesome. Glad to see these guys on here. Love the new album.
I love Chris on drums!!!!
Love the midwest scene ! Cheers from france 😘🤘
metcalf is god
I really dig this sound. Good job! Great mix of groove and rock!
These guys are amazing.
Nice! The host was amazing too, no credit to her here at all!? She deserves it. They loved her. Great interview and performance.
One of my favorite bands! Thank you for this video!
Can you host them again? THEY ROCK!!!!
Killer Drums!!!
TLAT making Kansas City proud!!
Huh. Just found these guys on Spotify and for sure thought that drum kit was gonna be much bigger.
Chris is a prodigious drummer.

excellent!
Just now hearing of this band. I really like them.
The host is cute too.
Loved this band ever since the first ep came out ages ago. I like them more than Shiner even though Lula Divina is a masterpiece.
One more fan!
Is that a 60’s era acrolite? It sounds fantastic, everything this drummer’s doing is just fucking great.
Who would thumbs down this?
Monsters.
I won't thumbs down it, but I like to hear what the hell they're singing, and I think the mix is off. I know, it's what they want.
Probably because she called them a Chicago band & thats just wrong.
unique drumming style!
I once read he was influenced by Jon Bonham, so I went to listen to Led Zeppelin for the first time in my life, and nah, Chris is way much better.
Besnard Lakes meets GBV meets Chavez
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

sweetfuckingchrist! i love this band!
Dude, turn up the vocals.

What the hell Allen. You say an album in every 2 years. It's 2022 for christsakes. You owe us 2 albums at this point.
he doesn’t owe you/us anything. Plus, Shiner’s released a new album and he’s done his solo album, so he has released 2 new albums. And i’m fairly certain there’ll be another Shiner album this year too.
Cool sound but that snare sounds like a wet paper bag but somehow it’s tuned really high? So confused.
But it sounds really clean, crisp and well rounded at medium and low volumes. Maybe it’s just a mixing issue when he slams on it?
Yes, snare sounds really awful compared to their studio stuff and Chris tunes really high indeed. This mix wasn't that good but man, Chris' playing is always god tier.
These guys rip
Cover song. Enjoy. soundcloud.com/lou-hakan/out-through-the-in-door

Nirvana?
Was on my feed this morning...uh, no. Just sounds like the kids in the garage down the street.
