An upbeat, loud tune may grab you initially but it's one dimensional nature usually doesn't hold your attention. The subtlety of a ballad, on the other hand, invites you to join the melody story with a basic idea then is able to keep your interest with it's highs and lows, taking you on a journey. It also allows you to observe and reflect as the soloist relates their personal touch to the story. This artist is a master story teller.
