Good presentation! Points well made. Beginners typically spread themselves too thin, and should buy just a few securities, collect dividends, and accumulate cash.
As a suggestion as a teacher, I know you’re interested in teaching people. If perhaps you used layman’s language when describing trading and allocations or defining, the terms, it would be greatly appreciated. Pretend you’re teaching this to a five-year-old. How would you teach this what words would you choose to use, what terms would you use? How would you describe the definition of those terms.
It doesn’t really matter because when you go onto vanguard or fidelity, you simply just choose these names. To explain each one would take forever. Think of these as the outside of a file folder, inside are a bunch of smaller files. The names are the outside jacket in which you’re investing into all of those little files inside. That’s the basics of diversifying. You’re investing in a lot of things under one jacket. As you invest more…you begin to invest in singular files. Best way to start is open a Roth, make sure you fund it and use one of the jackets he recommends. If you want to know more, you need to read some books on your own. Everyone has their own explanation of the stock market.
Hey Steve Im 51 yo and im looking to retire in 10-15 yrs. Do u have advice for folks in my age group to be better prepared for retirement? What should I be investing in? What does a portfolio look for me at my age? Thanks Steve!
Great video! Love your content. Was wondering if stocks in retirement accounts can be optioned (is that even a word?). Would you allocate any into US treasuries, bonds, or long term CDs for older investors, or always 100% in stocks/ETFs (& 10% cash) regardless of time til retirement?
Yep. Most stocks and ETFs are optionable. I usually stick with stocks and ETFs, rather than US treasuries, bonds, and CDs because stocks usually have a larger growth potential (but more volatility) based on historical data.
Yes I posted this same question , awhile back but used the wrong terms I have ETFs in my brokerage but was told to move it to my Roth IRA ..does that sound about right ?
You can have unlimited IRA accounts. However since it's accounts is a government sponsored investment account due to tax purposes. The limitation is how much you can put in with that year as scheduled by the IRS. Example in 2024 it's 7k if you are under 50yrs old and meet the income limits. If you go crazy and put $1 in all your 7000 ira accounts. So yea. You can open 8000+ accounts if u want, but you can only fund 7000 max for the year in 2024.
No limitations in the accounts you can open. But limitation as how much you can fund in total for the year for all IRA accounts in the year. 2024 is 7k if under 50 years old and less than 148k income.
Please continue to do more knowledge sharing videos, you are good at explaining, thanks much

Yes! I like to keep it simple.
So basically they take on too much risk?
Thank you so much!!! your videos help me a lot... GREAT TEACHER!!
So how much money do you have to put in each month is there a certain amount that you have to put in or is it based upon ones income
In the bigginer stage how much weightage each should better have among 90% for VOO, QQQ, SCHD?

Those are just ticker symbols, you can just type the names of the companies in the search bars in your brokerage accounts.
Do you count your emergency fund as the cash allocation, or is that a separate $ amount designated for investing?

Can you do a video to help low income earners how to invest in stock??
What’s the broker you recommend to start investing ?
Fidelity
Short term government bonds are also good instead of cash for a bear market.
hi steve. is this under the brokerage account or Roth IRA?
Yes I posted this same question , awhile back but used the wrong terms I have ETFs in my brokerage but was told to move it to my Roth IRA ..does that sound about right ?
Can you do a video on investing in REITS in an Roth IRA?
If I have $500 to invest in a ETF to start my investing journey, which one should I look into ? What you think btw VGT, QQQ or VOO ??
Schd right now because it’s sale
I like SCHD too. Great dividends.
Yay!
Can someone have 2 Roth IRA? Can you trade into your IRA?

I’d rather have QQQM or ARTY than QQQ. Actually SCHG for growth..
How to learn cover call? Do you have a class to teach that? I’m on my 50’s but won’t mind learning from you 😂
i think you can signup for his class

Nice!
Question: If we can only contribute 7500 a year for 2024, how can I get to 100K in 7 years even in 10 years. Please explain.
Open an individual brokerage as well once you hit the limit
Elder lady. I will probably go with the 70/80% in dividends and 20 growth.
You can also keep your money in a HYSA or CD too! :)
Hi steve is this under roth ira account?
It can be!
I am above 50
