Thank you David. I think with the proper antenna it could receive a few more stations. Right now I only get four or five stations ( in the evening )... in the day time only two Romanian stations. 73, YO6DXE.
@RanchoIxmucane Muchas gracias amigo.
Thank you so much 😁🙏. I have one more classic set I want to try... apparently that one was even better than this one. Let's see when I have some free time for that. 73, YO6DXE.
For me it was hard to find the variable capacitors to match them. Love it... works like a charm and I am sure with a simple long wire and a proper ground connection it will work even better. 73, YO6DXE.
Hey, Ciprian! Congrats on a Happy New Year 2024 and on your first video released in it! We'll be watching for another curious review from you. 73 de EX0QKT Archie
Thank you so much for watching and Happy New Year. I am trying to catch up with the videos as I was too busy with work and had no time to make any 😁. 73, YO6DXE.
Thank you so much. I am curious if the other one also a classic design performs better. I will build that one as well when I have a little time so I can compare them ))). I had them on the list for a very long time )). 73, YO6DXE.
It turned out great with very simple design. Now i get why it took you some time to make coil😅. you can leave that ceramic capacitors there it wont change frequency that easy. diode I think it was Soviet d9 diode if you get d18 it will work much better than it is. that's all i wanted to say. Good luck and 73!
Thank you so much. I have a couple of diodes that I want to test and see "who is the star" 😅. The coil... ohh yes hahaha... a nightmare to make but it turned out great and I am happy. I love it so far. The capacitors... ohh yes they seem to be just fine so they will stay as they are. I have a few more crystal sets designs I want to try just for fun and to bring back memories of the past. I just need a bit more free time. 73 my friend, YO6DXE.
Thank you so much James... and thank you for watching. I can't wait to try a few more classic designs and maybe even stick my nose into trying to mix some of them and make a better one )). 73, YO6DXE.
Hi Edwin. I have something in mind for a long time.. but right now I am still a little busy with work. Probably at the end of next month I may have something... if not in March the latest. I want to make a lot of tests before to make sure my ideas work ))). 73, YO6DXE.
@@dxexplorer Yes, it's great because all yjese old tranceivers are good systems. I have so many CB tranceivers like xtals 6 channels, and a very old tranceiver headkit with its external power supply, non fonctionnal bot able tu be restored. I love this old tranceivers. New items are not so good...
@francksylene1560 i also love old school stuff... all analogical. The new equipment its nice too... but it feels like I don't have so much joy as using an older one.
@@dxexplorer I'm ok for that, all my tranceivers are vintage ans analogic... And alwais a pleasure to use it. I dislike strongly new CB tranceivers with digital electronic circuits as tje SDR. Old CB are ok after 50 years, but in the future, digital tranceivers wont be ok after 20 25 years... This is the problem of digital technology and low cost components used in the new tranceivers...
It should work yes. I tried three random germanium diodes as I don't know exactly what type I have and all three of them worked. I think the one I use now is 1N43 or something like that.
Back in the 80's I used the classic 'Mullard OA81' germanium diode (glass or black coloured type)... you can still get them ... might cost more than than the newer ones ...
@@krellft Good to know that 😁😁. I will try to search some and get my hands on one so I can compare them a little as I never paid attention to this detail in the past when I was a kid. I was happy I have one diode to use that worked haha. 73, YO6DXE.
Salut Marian. Ehh in poza nu, dar in clip da 😁.
Ohh yes I wanted to do that. Sadly I was in a rush so I can finish filming the video... but I think I will remake the coil and then I will also fix the nylon bolts too. It would make my life a lot easier ))). 73, YO6DXE. P.S. I think the original ones were made the same way.
@roberthorseman7432 That I don't know. I kept trying to find some high resolution photos of the original ones... but I think what I found so far they seem to be replicas so I can't tell for sure. But I think as long as the coil has a good Q factor and the proper inductance as calculated for the desired frequency... it should be OK. At least this is what I did with the one in the video as I recalculated the inductance to fit the value of the variable capacitors I had... trying to cover the same frequency the original receiver covered.
Hello, can I send you a ferrite rod with a length of 200мм and a diameter 8мм, может вам пригодится для этой поделки, просто я не знаю есть ли он у Вас, их сейчас сложно найти😅
Hahaha... thank you. I have one but is like 10cm long. You should keep it... it may come in handy. I have these ferite bars since 20 years ago and I only ended up using them today ))). Usually I recover them from old junk that people get rid of.

Maybe you could fix some m3 type nylon bolts to the ferrite cores with nuts glued to the former so you could adjust the inductances of the coils.
