This young woman makes Iowa proud. Just keep your head up and play your game. College sports isn’t about race. It’s about how you represent the league and if the others can’t play fair and work together then sports isn’t for those people.

I can understand why the other women of the league resent her, but at the same time she brings prosperity not only to herself, but to the WNBA as a whole. This is the best thing that could happen for the league. Same thing that happened with Magic, Bird, and Michael Jordan. I hope soon enough that Caitlin can win over the other women of the league like those guys did with the NBA. It took a while for the NBA to blossom and it has to start off somewhere for the WNBA to start succeeding somewhere as well. Hopefully this will be that time for this league too.

@@a-a-ron4679I'm from Iowa City which is where Caitlin went to college.
During her time in college, there were a lot of signs of her support system. Her parents and brothers in the stands for home games (which meant a 100-Mile drive each way for them). TV cameras frequently showed them sitting in the stands during pauses in play such as timeouts. Caitlin would frequently look up at them from the floor and make the ♥️ gesture with her fingers.
Her boyfriend was (and still is) the son of the Iowa men's college basketball coach. He now works for the Pacers.
Caitlin and teammate Kate Martin were very close friends in college and the friendship continues today. Both have said in interviews that they call each other almost every day.
Now that Kate plays for the Aces, she is someone Caitlin can compare notes with on the rookie experience. Kate could have graduated a year earlier due to covid eligibility rules, but Caitlin pleaded with her to stay in college one more year. And it worked out great for both.
In addition Caitlin remains close friends with her other Iowa teammates, especially Gabby Marshall. Gabby was with her on draft night and also there in the audience when she appeared on Saturday Night Live.
Caitlin and the Iowa coaching staff had a close relationship. Coach Bluder built an offense around Caitlin's style of play rather than forcing Caitlin to conform to her own traditional playbook. Bluder has said in interviews that it was clear early on that Caitlin was a unique talent and the best way to tap into that was to "let Caitlin be Caitlin", and she always smiled affectionately when she said that.
To illustrate Coach Bluder's support for Caitlin's unique style of play, Diana Taurasi said that if Caitlin had gone to UConn, Coach Geno almost certainly would not have let her shoot the logo 3's that she's famous for today: www.tiktok.com/@espnw/video/7354567457715014958?lang=en
Coach Bluder was known for selecting players who were not only excellent basketball talents but also had team-oriented personalities: cooperative, not competing with each other, bonding as a team, but ready to bring competitive fire to the court.
Caitlin and her brother share an apartment in Indiana.
Anyway, those are examples that we in Iowa City have learned of through local media and local conversations.

There are average players as well as superior players on both sides.
Yes, the women on the court are not as tall or as quick or as strong or as fast as men are..but neither is she! So the field is relatively equal within the parameters given. And yes, all these being “relatively” equal…Clark scored more points in the same time allotted. Period. Obviously, Paige is a stellar talent and it's a shame that her injuries affected her journey as a player. It's good to see her back on the court, and I wish her a good year ahead.
But she plays the traditional UConn style that every other WNBA player from UConn plays. Not surprising, because that's what her coach requires. She will blend into the W and look like everybody else from UConn. She'll be embraced by other members of the W, but to non-UConn fans she'll look like more of the same.
However, the thing that many people praise Caitlin for is that her style is unique compared to other women players, AND fun to watch.

That's what gives the Ladi*s the ability to take care of their skin, hair and nails. So no one is complaining....Watching WNBA games the last decade, I thought they seemed almost clumsy when handling. Quite often, they had difficulty hitting the rim and backboard. Passing was atrocious! I immediately thought; these professionals don't practice enough. That appears to have dissipated as they really have shown their skills. It's amazing, although, men play 82 games per year heading for the finals. Women, on the other hand, play only 40 games per year. Women play Consequently, they might appear clumsy and pondering on the court. They play 40 minute games. So it's not a grueling season and there is a lot of down time when compared to the men who play 48 minutes per and 63 games annually. These figures might show women don't practice enough with their schedule. ...Caitlin has the work ethic as she is always active. Do you think the wom*n dislike Caitlin because she makes them work harder to beat her? Of course, the lucrative contracts she's signing couldn't help the situation. ...All this is going to do is create race hate. Whites will be called racist because they don't love all of them equally. I saw a vid showing a popular player talking to men pros. She belly-wooed saying maybe the men could be more generous and share some the BIG bucks... Caitlin may be looking at hiring a security team... Please excuse the long rant...
