I think the one thing that set Kara off into rage towards Mike was that he built their relationship on a lie; granted, her remarks hinted to him that if she'd known who he was she'd reject him immediately; they're both deeply flawed, well, the true term for the kind of creature is "embodied spirits", as they clearly have minds and wills, but also physical form. In that regard they're very little different from say, another kind of human being- that's one touch I like about that show: the question of "what's human and what's not?" is one thing they address in a different trajectory.
