Today I go over Zelda and how she was able to awaken her power to seal Calamity Ganon away and save Hyrule!
Wow, this video has really blown up recently. Thanks for all of the support guys! Just letting you know that another follow-up video is coming out regarding this topic, but from a different perspective. Hope you guys look forward to it!

@@Asheslit Yeah, there's just no voice acting. I think the reason he doesn't have real voice acting is because everyone who plays the games probably have a good idea of how Link sounds to them, but the problem relies more in the fact that millions of people play the games and everyone has their own interpretation of what Link sounds like in their own imagination. I would love to hear the dialogue tree options with the voice acting, but if they were to give Link a voice and he had a surfer dude accent, then that would probably ruin the imaginations of millions of people who imagined his voice to sound different. It's kind of like in books where when the movie comes out people complaim about how the characters don't look anything how they had imagined them to look or sound like in their heads.

I always assumed Link could talk, but he just never said anything in cutscenes with dialogue. If you notice, he clearly says something when there's silent dialogue and written out responces.

A romance that actually makes sense. I hate when stories force two characters with no chemistry together. Link doesnt even talk and the two have great chemistry. Really wish their relationship is explored more in the sequel.

I feel the sequel to Breath Of The Wild could be the ultimate Zelda game, or 3D Zelda game at least! I hope it won't reach too high for future games to soar but it can do wonders for Link and Zelda's chemistry, even if it's not romantic! Let them be forced to live together for crying out loud haha!

Link does talk in-game, he just never gets a voice. He explains a lot of things, shown through hand movements and head nods, but he does tell people stuff
The developers explain why he talks a lot more after he wakes up. In the memories, he doesnt talk because he has eyes on him all the time, but when he wakes, he doesnt have eyes on him so he doesn't feel as much pressure

Also, the flower petals swirling in the end cutscene where zelda and link walk together are explained by the homeowner who stays at links house, after terry town's side quest. He explains falling petals as a sign of eternal love.
To be fair, Link has always been able to talk, he just doesn't in the games due to it breaking the emersion of you being Link.
Link talks in the comics just fine, and is pretty cocky at times too(as a child).
He talks every time he has dialogue options. In BOTW, he has tons of hilarious dialogue options he can say to peoole. He's mostly just silent and stoic in the cutscenes, but in gameplay he's a total goofball.
I would also argue Link isn't exactly supposed to be the player, he's been his own character ever since OOT. The only times Link was the avatar for the player was in the old 8-bit games. I'd say he's a Link between the player as in players aspire to be like Link, so that's why they enjoy playing as him, much in the same way a kid admires Superman, but they aren't him.
@Abdulaziz Aljaser It was. That's the main reason the folks at Nintendo named him Link. He was originally called such because he was a Link to the triforce *(which is why the game for the SNES was called a "Link to the Past" because the triforce is supposed to represent the past, present and future),* but after a while they went with the idea he wasn't only a "link" between the triforce, but also a "link" between the gaming world and the player. I find it really interesting.
For yall thinking that Link pun was intentional, It could have been, but that was the exact reason why Nintendo decided to name him Link. When developing the game(s), Shigeru Miyamoto, who was the creator of the character Link, said that the pieces of the Triforce were supposed to be electronic chips. But, they decided to *link* the pieces together using the different powers, (Power, Courage, and Wisdom). Therefore they gave him the name Link. If anyone has any extra info please tell us.

The part where she tells link to take good care of the princess, and then she winks and says “oh... and take good care of hyrule ;)” maybe I’m incredibly wrong, but to me that hints that he would end up marrying the princess and ruling hyrule alongside her.

I found it so ironic that the King's pushing Zelda the way he did is very likely why it took Zelda so long to come into her power. His pressures and sterness, not letting her bond with him after her mother's death, thinking it'd push her more, but it meant that there was no one she could truly love, until Link was his stubborn, kind and loyal self at her. Perhaps she'd have learned sooner, if she had been allowed to love her father.

Mariana Gallegos I highly doubt Nintendo will do it, especially because of the flowers at the end of BotW. Also Link and Zelda ended together officially in Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks, and debatably, in the Oracle series and the A Link to the Past series. There is no reason they would not end together in BotW. Besides, it's not like there is anyone else Link could end with, since, you know... *THEY ALL DIED.*

At the end of the secret ending, Zelda and Link hug. That's easily the most evidence for this pairing that I can find, because it's as close to physical proof as you can get in the video game. Kass' song only implies it, this evidence shows it. It's hard to see, though, as it only happens when the camera pans over to the Silent Princess at the very end.

Honestly love the fact they finally decided to give link a personality and for him to not be just entirely a cardboard cutout. He seems like a great character from what little we can gather of his personality.
I love that his personality is defined through gameplay, he can be a silent traveler, a chivalrous knight, or a rabid fiend that travels around on flying boulders

I've always interpreted Link's silence as the fact that he's a knight, and that showing emotion or expressing opinions isn't necessarily part of his job description. Especially in the presence of a member of the royal family

The skyward sword manga shows the first incarnation of Link and the goddess Hylia. Hylia tells Link that the reason his life was full of hardship was because he had to be crafted into the hero the world needed to defeat the evil. She said that Link's love for Hyrule, despite everything that happened to him, was the reason he was the ultimate hero, Link loved Hyrule just as much as the goddess that created it. She said that she and him would be resurrected throughout history to defend Hyrule against evil because of that love. Maybe this latest Zelda, for some reason, didn't love Hyrule. Her mom died at a young age and since then that sealing power rested on her shoulders. She felt the whole kingdom was disappointed in her and her lack of progress, so maybe she resented them. The skyward sword manga isn't canon but I think it provides good insight.

@Jeebie Heebie There is a Manga, it's in the back of hyrule historia. And yeah, I did say it isn't Canon, but it is still insightful information. The whole thing is pretty damn poetic and beautiful for a video game, and the skyward sword manga is probably the closest to Canon a Manga can get because it was published in a book which IS canon.
The skyward sword manga is by Akira Himekawa, I can't tell if you think that his work is canon but it unfortunately isn't, but that doesn't stop many people using them as secondary sources of information to influence theories and ideas.
@Jeebie Heebie None of the Manga is Canon. Most of them just follow the narrative of the games but they take some liberties and are not Canon. And for like the third time I know they aren't Canon, doesn't mean they aren't useful for different points of view

You missed the most important part. the second last thing Zelda says to link:
“I always thought, no believed you will find a way to defeat Ganon.”
Here Zelda is revealing a powerful truth about the Hylian / Human spirit.
That our beliefs are more powerful than our thoughts.
Throughout the game, Link gains his power by gathering Spirit orbs and praying (expressing his beliefs) to the Godess Hylia.
Beliefs exist in the domain of the subconscious mind, which regulates 95% of all our mental processes.
The reason Zelda couldn’t unlock her power was because she was relying on her finite conscious will (playing at being a scholar), which lead her to be filled with doubts and insecurities about the power she had within herself.
Instead of looking inward and believing in the power she always had, she was looking outwardly, to the technology of the Shiekah’s by way of the Shiekah slate and the the Guardian technology, and the Divine Beasts as the source of her salvation (and that of Hyrules), in which she placed her faith.
Just like in real life, evil spirits, embodied in the form of Calamity Ganon, corrupted that which Zelda put her faith in - and that was the source of the Calamity itself.
When we put our faith in our external reality, we invite disaster into our lives.
But when we put our faith in the ones we love, to the point that we would give our lives for them, we unlock the most powerful element each of us has:
The power of our beliefs.
Love is what unlocks the super powers each of us has within us, whether it is the sealing power of Zelda or the Swordsmanship of Link.

A lot of games and shows are cashing into the "depressed" "anxiety" stricken characters lately and as someone who has experience with those feelings I can relate to Zelda on a lot of her problems. She basically can't awaken her powers because she is only thinking about herself and how she needs to unlock her powers but can't. She hates herself. Thinks herself a failure. She is cold to Link not because she doesn't like Link, but rather loves him. Wait, what you say? Yeah. It's because she loves him that she hates to show Link her bad side. Her angry side. Her "useless" side. She wants Link to see her in a good light. But since that's not happening she appears cold towards him (she's projecting her hard assessment of herself onto Link). The reason she unlocks it when it matters is because that's when she lets her feelings ring true to herself. Because if Link dies, that's it. There's no more second chances on that love. She allows herself to be true to her feelings and because of that she is able to achieve her grand goal. The only thing that was holding her back was herself, her hatred towards her iniquity and her jealousy towards Link who seemed like he had it all. Her change of heart in the end though, was thanks to Link's unending support. Zelda would not have been able to realize her feelings without Link being there to guide her through her thoughts, and be that someone to lean on when things got tough.

While playing breath of the Wild it looked to me like this: Yes Zelda loves Link that's quite OBVIOUS even without talking to Kass, which is the ultimate proof then. As for her sealing powers, I think she supressed her true feelings all the time, because she needs to act perfect around others, so her powers couldn't be awakened. But when Link was about to get killed she unleashed her feelings in an desperate attempt to protect him. It was a combination of both her love for Link and the determination to protect him ;)

In case you didn't already know, there's a "relationship class" in Gerudo town you can go to in the evening. Talk to all the women and then talk to the teacher. She asks Link if he's in a relationship and his response is cute.

I wondered 100 years before Calamity ganon would Zelda's father King Rhoam even approve of his daughter being in love with Link...the man he personal wanted to protect his daughter. The romantic undertones and implications that he did return Zelda's feelings was addressed in the Japanese verison...since the diary was omitted in the American Verison. (Such as what motives him is making her smile again....it's so sweet)...He's the chosen one....a very stronger warrior...but Link was also not of noble or royal blood. He didn't approve of Zelda with doing anything else but her unlocking her Divine power....(it's not until after his death he saw the error of his ways.) He did love his daughter...and if Link made her happy....it's something I wondered. I mean Link despite being a commoner was someone that would be worthy to be King of Hyrule.
There's also Mipha...such a sweetheart...it breaks my heart to see that she died. She loved Link but she was never destined to be with him. I mean the diaries in the Japanese verison show he preferred Zelda over Mipha. So there was a chance he would have gently turned her down when proposed marriage...not because he didn't want too...it's more because he already had fallen in love with Zelda....but cared for Mipha deeply as their childhood friends....Mipha truly loved Link...she would understand and want him to be happy. Even if it's not with her. I mean she was inspired by her ancestor Ruto...that alone knows it was doomed to fail from the start. So tragic.
I wonder how the love triangle would have been with Zelda Link and Mipha if the other knew about the romantic feelings for Link. I mean Mipha did see Zelda as a rival...as she was concerned when he was named her appointed knight and more likely was seeing their growing closeness. I mean Link had said things to Zelda that he never said to Mipha. Such as why he's stoic.....
There's also that poet...Kass' mentor who fell in love with Zelda....I REALLY wish we had flashbacks with him. What did he look like? It's said he was rejected because her interested lied in someone else. And it was clear that it was her appointed knight Link. So he was jealous of Link for having the princess's heart and always gets to spend all this time with her....because of his duty to protect her. That her powers awakened because of her love for Link....
Now there's a sequel coming...I hope this Link and Zelda are the ones that are confirmed officially. Not a maybe like Spirit Tracks or Skyward Sword. Like Zelda finally saying I love you to him...as the Deku Tree had addressed for her to tell him herself. I am sure the Yiga Clan is coming back at full force too...so many possibilities for their romance. Plus I think everyone is going to see it in the sequel....much like most can see it in Skyward Sword I do recall.

no. he's her BODY GUARD. Zelda may have some weird savior complex but the "love" is beyond one sided. Link showed NO emotion through this whole game... memories of a dead friend/lover? DEADPAN. Seeing a place he once guarded with his life destroyed? DEADPAN. Finding out he's been talking to a dead king for a week? DEADPAN. Major remembrance of his greatest failure? DEEEEEAAAAAADDDDD PAAAAAAAAAN. Dont get me wrong this game was AMAZING, story was terrible. voice acting was worse.
