- A quick stop on the Lower Oreti river just up from Sandy point for about 20 mins plenty of perch about and one fish I'm not sure if it is a trout or not.
Gear I used -
Rod - Shimano Zodias 7ft Ultra Light
Reel - Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 2500HG
Main Line - J-Braid 8lb
Leader Line - OCEA Leader 6lb Fluoro
Jig Heads - Berkley nitro Sniper
Softbaits - Berkley PowerBait T-Tail Softbaits
Camera - GoPro Hero 8

that was a salmon at the end you can tell by the tail and back fins i have caught them there too.

Are there often Perch at this spot? Might take the kids. Also, what weight jig head were you using?
Yeah the lower oreit is full of them. Jig head weight is based on the flow at the time. Could of been a 1/16. I normally start with a 1/12 then go heavier or lighter from there.
