This guy is absolutely head over heals in love with his car and i think the contrast between the two is amazing, Because he's very modest and soft spoken whereas the car itself is very loud and obnoxious when driven hard but the noise that it makes is still music. Its almost like this car embodies the louder half of Ege's quiet personality.

It may not be a “real” ‘40, but that’s clearly not the point. It’s a labour of love, passion, skill, and time that clearly gives great joy, not some trailer queen destined to do less than 5 miles a year lest it’s investment potential be negated. Bravo.

the point he made about every owner of a GT40 replica finding a different way to solve a problem and then everybody copying a better idea they see on another car makes me think that the replicas are better cars than the originals and they will keep getting better.
who cares if it's "real", that's a rediculous question.

What a beautiful piece of art. I like the owner's attitude: It's a real one, in terms of it exists. Looking at Binky, we all agree that it's the same Mini, although so much of it was replaced during the build. It's not only the material that makes things real, it's the spirit in the things.

To create - in his image - a beautiful representation of what the Ford F40 did to the automotive scene. Love a bit of Binky, Escargo etc but you can understand how labour intensive it is and how hard it is to generate 45 minutes of content. Vs this, it's a very welcome addition! There's a lot of viewers with ace cars where you could do these films, and the way its shot, is ace, not loud and in your face over the top. Tasteful!

Something I never got my head round. I have had plenty of success racing Minis, but I never had the passion to build one from the ground up. Friends wax lyrical about windscreen motor differences, and how to work out what works and what doesn't, but it never grabbed me. However, I take my hat off to anybody who gets their rocks off building and problem solving. My interest has always been solving the problems associated with winning races, given what my arse is sitting in.

Seeing this depresses me a little bit. I was born too late - and made the wrong choices - to be have a chance of owning and driving something like that before it becomes too late for me to own a proper, old fashioned V8 sports car. A car built with precisely one purpose in mind - to be fast, and damn the noise and expense, it's gotta be fast!
I don't regret it; I'm enjoying my life now, car or no car. And maybe I'll learn to love electric, or maybe petrol will outlive me, in the same way that film photography (my current main money sink) outlived the expectations of most.
It's a true testament to the team at BOM that they can do several build vlogs in arguably the most entertaining fashion on TH-cam, and deliver some absolutely top-tier content like this. Thank you all, and I suspect when I lose and break my BOM mugs and hats and masks that the only replacement will be available on the BOM store ;)

I’ve always been a Chevy guy and always will be, but the GT40 is a piece of art. Such a beautiful car with such a great history.

What an excellent video and such a humble guy who’s undertaken an incredible rebuild of a classic in his own way. Done a fantastic job there and wish him many more years of happy motoring

This video speaks authenticity inclusive of every aspect of the content.
    I enjoyed watching a TH-cam video as a TH-cam video.
It's subtle and gives meaning, passion towards things, people, objects and I saw life in the GT40, his eyes and in his garage.
    A wonderful 11min watch. I loved it.

You can't stereotype a Gearhead. See this guy on the street and you'd think he's got 2 Honda Accords (4 cylinder base model) sitting in the garage. Then he opens the garage and the Brotherhood of the Gearhead is instantly revealed!

For a period of time seeing a "GT40" or "Lola T70" parked in my road didn't seem at all unusual, because a company, GT Developments was just round the corner in an industrial estate producing them.

My sleepy little NH 'city' of ~16k people had the highest volume Viper dealer in the country. Carrol Shelby was regularly there, and one signed special edition had the final prep done here in town, not by Dodge. 'Tuning marks' were all over certain roads lol.

@@UmmmmmmmWhat do you or know about the viper engine and or common failures? as a rumour i was hearing said the cam-in-cam and or phasers gen4&5 was being difficult to deal with and or was harder to mod or tune with in place and not remove it aka going to a sold 1peace camshaft . and or may be the culprit for stock engine damage/locking up, as is i don't believe the rumours but thought 💭id ask anyways to test the water 😉. using the same basic design and ideas for my v8 mopar

@Richard Price Unfortunately, I'm not very mechanically inclined and have never done engine work, especially on a viper v10. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit to share since it involved Carrol Shelby, it was the '96 Viper rt10 CS Limited Edition cars prepped and signed here. You would regularly see car haulers from across the US dropping off customer cars to tune, while you were sitting across the street at the McDs drive-thru.

Normally I am against super cars and especially kit cars.
This, however, is just beautiful in every way.
God I love every inch, every curve and (especially) every minute of the story of its restoration.
What an incredible car and what an incredible story by the genius that brought this beast back from the brink.
I rant on and on, for which I apologies, but I would like to thank this gentleman for his passion and determination to create / restore such an absolute statement of motoring art.
Michael Angelo could not be more proud of such a creation.
    Thank you 🙏🏻!

Great doco guys. Ege was brave taking on such an unknown fire damaged project. And if that wasn’t enough, he flares the rear arches which would be a massive job on its own, swaps out the gearbox and makes a new gear change linkage, adds aircon to a race car and reworked the headlights etc.etc. Well done Ege, the car is a real credit to your insight and determination. It definitely stood out from the other GT40’s and sounds amazing too. Love it!!
