Thanks for covering RRC2! So glad you enjoyed it and there's a lot of cool stuff on the horizon. 😊

I was really worried RRC2 would become vaporware and I am so glad it isn't.

While I enjoy these games, and this reminds me of my favorite RRT3, it feels like the resources are too arbitrary, and it's really weird seeing Utica, NY near Scranton, PA. I know it's a demo to test the game mechanics, but definitely seems like pre-alpha.
Might recommend, if you find this useful, fixed maps that resemble the areas in real life (especially topography issues) which would instil planning challenges for path and grade, as well as make resources a building object so you can easily control availability. massive strip mines and logging camps, etc. The game appears to a simplified logistics simulator which, to me, feels like it's missing needed strategy depth.

As a veteran of thousands of hours of TTD and OTTD as well as Transport Fever 1 and 2; I *may* be forced to check this out. Thanks for the early look OP.

I played the demo and enjoyed it very much. I discovered that one one-way signal on each side works fine.

Just because your track allows 240Km/h doesn't mean your steam trains can do that speed.

I remember how on Comrade Dictator Potato's 2nd (I believe, out of 100) Workers and Resources series, his first episode started out with him building a 4-track circular entry/exit area into the industrial district of Potatograd. It was awesome!
Comrade Dictator Potato can do it all; Track-building, OP-144 manufactoring, Nuclear Waste disposal (over the border to nay-toe countries,) H.O.R.N.E.T. (Helicopters Operating Remotely Near Every (Potato) Thought) Contruction and Fire-fighting, plus keeping all citizens happy by letting them work 22 hours each day.
Please do another W&R series Comrade.

Looks like a game from the year 2010.

Perhaps road isn't a spelling error but actually the correct term used at the time for the 'railroad'? 🤔
Edit: a quick etymology check shows road derives via Saxon from the Germanic word for ride, implying it's a term for a 'travel route'. For those thinking that roads are for cars, this game is starting in 1883 in the US and the first practical motorwagon was developed a few years after this, in Europe.

Love these types of games, but what typically sinks them is bugs and a ton of micromanagement (as a consequence of bugs). This game shows potential, but the issues are peeking through too.

what i like is economy games, like industry giant 3 or patrician 3.
but the AI need to be smart too because its 2024 already.

Historically Scantron, much like most of Pennsylvania, should be near coal. In fact, the coal mine near Scranton is one of the reasons it was home to one of the earliest power plants and electric trollies, thus the name "Electric City"

Nice game, i played Transport Tycoon and Railroad years ago and had tons of fun... this one seems to have potential, 1 thing i dont like (and i hope that will change in the future) is the management of the Train and its cargo and i mean with this that in the T. Tycoon you needed to buy both the train and the desired ammount of cargo charts and that was visible all the time, not like this that the ammount of cargo charts shows only after loading the ammount of coal for example. But well, maybe its intended like this, because of the metric used for the units that are needed, like instead of saying "need 1tons of coal, says 10 unit of coal"...besides of that i liked it :D... hope i explained myself good what i meant haha . Cheers!

FYI, Utica is pronounced yoo-ti-ca (with accent on the first syllable), not oo-ti-ca.

Kind of a modern version of Railroad Tycoon II. Imho doesen´t stand the test vs a modern game like Transport Fever 2.

this seems to work very similiar to rrt2, and 3.... But it seems odd that the train after delivering the coal runs back to the coal plant with no empty cars, just the loco...

It looks nice, but my only complaint is that there is too much going on. Too many UI's, Menu, Information, Stats, Boxes, and too many things on the screen. The features are all over the place. It also has too many steps involved just setting up a train, loading and unloading cargo, and transporting goods. What I liked about the original Railroad Corporation is that it had a more simple yet pleasurable aesthetic to it. In 3 clicks you already have a train set up and you don't have to do unnecessary steps just to see what cities need to have materials delivered.
I don't like the idea of a Train Depot, not only because it is unnecessary, but because that means you might be limited to how many locomotives you can run, compared to Infinite in the original game. You do not need to figure out what each button does like in the original Railroad Tycoon because you can tell by the icons. I prefer unlocking a locomotive by doing research and development like in the original Railroad Corporation.
The color palette looks too busy, in Railroad Corporation, it had three colors that blended well, Green, Gold, and Brown. In this one, it looks too busy, I don't know what they are trying to go for, a library, a game room, an arcade, or something. But, personally, I would keep it in three colors Blue, Gold, and Grey.
I do like the upgraded graphics, but it's a little sad if I see more text, than the actual game. It looks like I am playing a story RP game where everything is all text and you have to rely on your imagination to see what is going on. I would like more graphics than text, otherwise, the game looks like an instruction manual.
The buildings, industries, stations, etc look too "modern" if the date is set in 1883. The buildings should have some Victorian style to them. If I look at those buildings without looking at the date, I would assume it is set in the 1930s or 1940s.
I would like the graphics to be a little more clean, sharper, and more color. It looks too blurry, dull, and very boring. It looks like it was made out of clay and some of the fine details look blurry. I also want to have the ability to see the locomotives more closely because who doesn't want to see their favorite locomotive running and hauling freight and passengers. The water could use some work because in Railroad Corporation the water looked nice.
Nitpick: They better add more steam locomotives in this game. If this game is going to be set in the years the 1880s and beyond, they should include, some Ten-Wheelers, Consolidations, 2/3-truck Shays, Decapods, Prairies, Mikados, Pacifics, Switchers, Articulated, Mountains, Berkshires, Texas, Hudsons, Northerns, Challengers, Yellowstone, Cab-Forwards, and Bigboys because from that late 1880s to the mid 1900s, that is when Steam was at the top of their game.
In conclusion, this looks like a promising game. However, the graphics, gameplay, and UI have too much going on. This doesn't look like a PC game in 2024, this looks like a Mobile game from 2011. If they can refine it and make it better, then it could be a home run.
