Nice one Jay lad👍When I drove a truck with a splitter I only really used the half gears when loaded and even then didn’t use them all the time depending on weight and inclines
Thanks for the ride again Jay 🤩 I’m still old school with a stick in my 106 Daffy Duck lol 😆 I get better mpg than the Daf auto truck we have on the fleet 😆
I love watching your videos and I can't believe how easy you make it look!! After 17 years driving I still can't make the back end of my car go where I want it to... I do very little reversing!!... Keep the vids coming matey love it!
Came across your channel recently and it's great to see that manual transmission aren't extinct. It seems that most European trucks are automatics. Here in America automatics are becoming more popular with large carriers. Over my 35 years of driving I've had 9 10 13 15 18 speeds one of the most unique on is Spicer 20 speed. Never drove a truck with a twin sticks though. Keep up the great work!!
Careful jumping down off those flatbeds. My dad recently retired has had to have have 2 knee replacements from doing that same jump for the last 40years
@@truckerjay Fair play mate, I'm loving your vids by the way, I use to go with by dad as a kid right through my school years brings back lots of good memories. Especially helping with the strapping, affixing number plate, winding up the wheels etc
I was warned in my early twenties about jumping off the deck of a wagon, I’ve lived to regret it, now I’m past retirement age and my knees are not good.
Another great video Jay, thanks again, nice to see the different loads you do now! Loving the manual box, always someone, somewhere dissing people off, at least you know she’s doing it!! Keep up the good work and keep safe!😀🚛
with the gear changes Jay, I did drive a Scania, it was different, as in not having to use the clutch, it was just release the accelerator for the splits, shifting was use the clutch unless you rev change, and range was use the clutch. great to see you done a video on it though for new drivers to manual trucking.
Watching these types of videos, I accidently end up spending a few hours straight watching them. I'd love to be a truck driver but my very minor condition stops me from driving anything above 3.5t. Even though its really low risk, lower risk than people with high blood pressure. I think they just stop me because its very rare they cant be bothered to make an exception. Watching these types of videos fuels my enjoyment of truck driving just about.
If you really want to do it, appeal to the DVLA with the help of your doctor!? you never know what might happen, it's got to be worth a shot so good luck Zepp
rolls royce is round the corner from where i live nice to see it from the other side. you think they are big you should see them move a full engine without the casing its massive requires guide cars and they move them early hours of the morning while its quiet.
Great video as always and great blogs. just 1 wee question where did get your shower stop?? as I think I have stopped in there before and never got in as it was full at the time. And there was other standing waiting to get a shower. Thanks for the time and effort you go to blog about the work you do. Also 1 request don't do an overhead video lol :)
Hi Jay, is your DAF a 3 over 3 with the splitter? Our compactor is like that though 1st low is never used, worst place to drive when getting used to the gears was Midsomer Norton, hills and roundabouts everywhere, and lately sodding roadworks too!
Thought i recognised where you were going, I drive that route everyday, including brookfoot hill! Ive seen many a driver get stuck on that so well done pal.
Gosh that brings memories back lol u didn't need spliter till u loaded really helps had range change and spliter is so so nice to see, thats much better than a auto box. Then again I've an Audi r8 v10 spyder and has semi automatic and use flappy paddles. But wow the acceleration is pure scarey and not manged yet to put my foot to floor in any gear. I have subscribed. Ur my new Hero.
@@truckerjay if you ever in west dorset ur very wellcome for a drive. Honist it shocked me how fast it is id never felt anything like that b4 is like a rocket ship but do have to say I keep to all speed limits top speed is just on 200mph. I do stick too all limits cause peeps know its fast and nothing to prove. My car was once owned by Gairth Bale a football player.
Great vlogs Jay keep em going!! Quick geeky question, how did you secure the 3 rellow containers? Warning signs saying not to rachet strap over top on containers. How did you do that? Cheers
I used be a forklift driver, I probably could tell ye, but back in the 1970's I was 'underage' and the CO was taken over n unionised n men wanted mi job, I passed an inspection from Dublin and not only did they qualify me, I got adult wages as well, from £6 to £12.50 ~ happy dazzzz. Ye, but I could still tell ya. :)
does the DAF symbol light up jay ( the1 on the the dash) and where can I get 1, we get our new xg models in jan and I wouldn't mind getting one, so looking forward to a new wagon. Not sure I could live with the wood look dash though mate but it could grow on me.
Great video as always shame you couldn't drop off the load. Your right what a strange time for everyone to go home. Is your daf a 10 speed splitter box or how many gears dose your truck have.
Great vlog Jay as always, omg when you were explaining the manual gearbox I was like 🤯as I'm not a trucker way over my head🤣so there's a woman who has a problem with you they are obviously jealous of you and i bet she's called karen😆cheers jay🤙👌👍
It is a well known fact that there are sock thieving fairies 🧚♀️ out there, but they only ever take one! 😮 I have loads of 1/2 pairs of socks and I personally think that we should get them all arrested and jailed, little b@#*ards 😅 😂😂. Great vlog jay 👍
Not related I know first of all love the channel and as ex army thank you for your service the thing I want to ask is when I was watching older uploads how did you change gear from reverse to drive totally confused any way keep going
“Delete” doesn’t actually remove the content, it only removes the index of where it lives. As long the media has been reused and overwritten a simple undelete app can restore anything deleted.
You mean the lady doesn’t like because you’re a TH-camr mate? One thing I’ve learnt about life is - you can’t please everyone haha - but a great video. Keep up the good work Jay 🤙
Those showers looked really clean and tidy and well looked after. Cannot stand these people who sit on your back corner and just stay there and do not pass.

Great video Jay, loved the bit at 25:40 of just driving at normal speed and music :)
Just watching and listening to the gear changes sounds so complicated but with everything the more ya do it ya get it. Great video jay.

No protection between the straps and bricks when cross strapping the last pallets?
Looks like sharp ends 🤔
nobody puts them on the upright corners

That's a valuable load to be leaving back at the yard.

Good lesson tiring down bricks lad😊
Did you choose to go manual or was it one you were given,
Seriously impressive 👍
I was asked if i wanted it to a auto. i said i dont mind
Why do you guys use 2 inch straps instead of 4 inch?
we do but most companies just order 2 inch
Now here is a bizarre question for you, what make are those trousers your wearing at 12:07??
