Its amazing times to be thinking „a new Plugin „ and then you realize „sounds great!“ and a bit later realize „ …and i have 10 plugins that are similar quality wise and i never really use their potential“ ……..
I have this problem…. I buy synths for 20 bucks and never really learn any of them its overwhelming. I just learned how abu dabi works on gadget after 5 years and it turns out to be awesome I just could not figure it out and their is not one person showing how to use it not even Doug gets around to everything. I just bought DrumComputer…2bleass apps and butter synth last month oh yeah and a korg drum machines ap because it was available and Pianoteq 8…..no more for a week. This tech is amazing I don’t see any pros using it… hardware keyboards just don’t make sense any more. Take away is check out abu dabi that is the most under rated drum machines ever. If anyone cares I can explain the simple thing I didn’t get..just ask.
Thank you for the demo. I was confused prior to clicking the video as I assumed this might be an update…. Either way, purchasing and getting creative today
Yeah, I was confused too. I use OB-Xd all the time and was like “What is this instrument in the thumbnail that doesn’t look like OB-Xd? Is it the Mac version?”
Nobody at Andertons music could tell the blindfolded difference between the new 5k oberheim and an app so yeah there is that. I have 3000 dollar headphones I can’t rarely tell…i can’t justify buying hardware now….get the headphones and dac when I use my iPad some apps give the option for 24 bit/96khz output on the dac to headphones at that point I am getting very good sound out of these synths. If you bother to program your controller you can turn knobs and you are done. I got the new iPad 2024 13 and I can run so many apps into my sequencer it’s crazy. I was tempted to buy analog synth but new iPad and headphones was a better choice for sure.
Thanks for the great hands on video, I never had the original version but I do have this new one, but it is no good as AUv3 in Cubasis 3 because the on-screen keyboard hides everything below the first row of Voice Variation controls, it also does not open to full screen on the 13” iPad Air M2, the devs insist it’s a Steinberg issue but considering it does not even open to full screen in Stand-alone mode on the 13”, I don’t think so! Still, it sounds great and if you are using an external midi keyboard in AUv3 then all is well. Thanks again Doug 🍻
This should really have been provided as an update to the existing app. As far as I can tell what we have here is an improved user interface, a unison mode and micro tuning. Given how buggy the original app has been and remains, and the fact that there have been no updates for a year or so it’s really disappointing to see that this relatively minor upgrade is being sold for £12.99 as a new app when clearly it is not a new app. There is also no special discount offered to owners of the original app. Does this also mean that the original app will now not receive any further updates? I fuel quite bitter about this, particularly considering the years of bugs we have endured with the original app. Thank you for the review.
Anyone else having issues with saving? in menu (overwrite, save to) options. But when you close out and reopen app, save content disappears from list? After spending time getting sound customized, it sucks you loose your work. Needs a fix, I think its a software issue. Otherwise great sounding app, very inspiring to create. If it saved correctly. Thanks for always posting new available software!
Thanks Doug. I have the original and love it. You say they are similar but are the preset banks the same? e.g. Is the original bank by Luke (the last in the list) present in this version? New banks mean new sounds, so brilliant but the old ones mean I could ditch the earlier version. A better UI is definitely useful but I'm still not sure if it's worth it overall without knowing about the banks. Decisions, decisions. :-)
For anyone considering OB-Xd 3, be mindful of this ongoing major issue: In AUM, OB-Xd 3 currently circumvents AUM's MIDI data filtering mechanisms specifically regarding incoming MIDI data coming from connected wireless MIDI devices, whether they're connected to your iPad using WI-FI or Bluetooth.
Since the MIDI CC parameter mapping is directly baked into OB-Xd 3 by the developer, every single instance of the synth loaded in your AUM project will respond to incoming MIDI CC data that is almost certainly not intended to control it (regardless of the MIDI channel), which will alter the synth sound in real time whenever a wireless MIDI controller device is used. I've contacted the developer about this 2 days ago but I haven't received a response since. I would highly recommend holding off until there's a confirmation in the patch notes that this has been fixed.

I don’t have the old one. I’m pretty impressed with the sounds! Seriously considering it. As always, brilliant demo, Doug!
Thanks for getting on this. Looks great 😎
Brilliant video im pleased you put this video up as i recently downloaded this synth and some of these presets do sound nice 👍
Thanks Doug. Had the old one and bought this new one. will probably use both, lol
Sounds great Doug, thanks for for the demo! Wonderful big pads 😎 I hope they also bring one of their other synths to iOS!

Don’t complain to Doug it’s not his fault, hit up the dev!
@@MeerkatMuzicNot suggesting that it is in any way Doug‘s fault of course, although this is something that could’ve been mentioned in the review

Buyers beware. I tried explaining why with a detailed comment regarding a major ongoing issue with the app and my comment got automatically filtered.
