Thanks Mike! That is the reason though why I use subtitles etc. as I am sure going to miss a rule here or there. But I try and get these vids out so people can see if the game will be worth it to pick up!
This is another great video. You do a really good job of explaining how to play a game with lots of great close ups so I can see what is going on. I learned how to play 7th continent watching you, glad to see this game too.
Thank you so much, Mark! Just what I want to do with this channel, so appreciate you watching. For 7th Continent I hope I showed you just how important food is hahahaha! :)
Looking great, Colin! Your personality and charm make it very fun to watch this! Here are a couple of minor rules corrections: 1) You can spend XP to pay for Quest triggers, but NOT to resolve the Quests. 2) The second solo card's "Otherwise" text was not "discard 4 cards." It was "Place 1 Wound Token on every Hero." Looking forward to part 2!
I recently acquired this game and i must say--it became one of my favourites. I still haven't gone through a solo session yet so this video does help. Thanks for this.
I just might be a bit picky on the components, and I understand Andrew didn't have loads of extra money from the kickstarter to upgrade the components. They are fine, just not at the level of some other games, or even published games. The painted minis are great, enjoy them!! :)
It's s shame it didn't do better than it did, but I think a lot of people just passed it off as generic fantasy board game #1558744125445 and didn't give it a second glance. It's a shame because it looks different to anything else I've played as a dungeon crawler/card management/puzzle type of game.
Couldn't agree more. AND the fact that they changed gameplay elements DURING the campaign it can (rightfully so) make potential purchaser's wary as you are backing a game that may not be as "playtested" as it should be. However Andrew did a great job responding to what people wanted, and coming up with solutions that were well implemented. I am hoping that in retail there will be enough excitement about it once more info is out there!! Fingers crossed as I want an expansion with more enemies and more tiles! hahahaha :)
On the last enemy activation the monster did not have to be melee. You would’ve just gotten lucky and it wouldn’t of gotten any bonus but it could still attack. Excellent video by the way. This is my favorite game that I have ever played. You have an excellent start. It’s actually pretty hard to get 8XP in the opening-round.
Greg - thank you! So you are saying that I should have activated the goblin instead of losing the 1xp? I thought that if you couldn't do the card you had to skip it? Regardless, thank you very much for watching!!
One Stop Co-op Shop - see the picture drive.google.com/open?id=1W30VCnnfzV9K62ovTb-JAkqCG2XP1pmu These protocols are adding bonus melee or ranged attack, however they are not telling a specific type of character what to do.
Bummer wish I could read that it says I do not have permission. So the card is simply giving a bonus to a certain type, but do you have to activate that type if able?
One Stop Co-op Shop try this one: drive.google.com/open?id=1W30VCnnfzV9K62ovTb-JAkqCG2XP1pmu If you notice in the text there it says “if they have that type”. What this means is that if it adds melee and they are ranged, they get no bonus to their attack but they can still attack.
Crap Colin 3rd game I've bought in the last month due to your play through. I hopped on with 2hrs left on the KS and backed it. Looking to get painted minis too.
Love the way you're explaining this, it's extremely helpful especially for me as I am trying to learn this and get it to table. Love the enthusiasm as well! Quick questions though: In the multiplayer game, I think I remember there being a rule that the draftable cards in the market need to be purchasable by at least one hero. Is this rule cancelled out in the solo variant?
Thank you for watching and the comment! You got it right, in competitive at least 1 hero should be able to use EACH card in the upgrade row, but that is not viable for a solo game! Hope that helps!
Question: on 16:00, when Melinda drew 2 cards - does it go directly to your hand? If so, is it possible to have more cards in your hand than it should (from using Hero cards, drawing cards, buying, etc.), in this case, 6 cards in hand at this level?
When you place the new dungeon tile @23:46, shouldn’t the doors match up? In here, the wall was put up against the door and then you placed an archway tile on top.
For me for solo I like this better as it is designed for you to control multiple heroes solo. BUT if you are looking for a story driven campaign to play with your buddies, Gloomhaven is the place to be. Hope that helps!
HAHA Thanks Je! Yes you can! You can even purchase a card to have your hand over the limit since cards go directly to your hand. But some of the real strategy in the game is discarding cards at the right time. Glad you enjoyed it so much and I hope you enjoy your copy!!

most underrated game... an amazing game much better that gloomhaven a DC where you know in advance which r your enemies and where...
Ooof hard one that is! I think I'd choose this one just because of how unique it is. Love the activating 4 heroes and the cardplay. But Kilforth is so fun too. . . Much more about the experience vs. the puzzley nature of Dungeon Alliance.
@@OneStopCoopShop Thanks Colin......I am not a huge Euro guy and I have heard from others that this is more of a euro game than a dungeon crawl, but I love the strategy and that is why I asked your opinion as you tend to like games I like. Appreciate the feedback.
Aside from the cards which look to be of fine quality, the rest of the components look really cheap. The cardboard border, the tiles, the tokens. Is it the case? Look like the tiles are loosing some colours around the edge. What are your thought on the components quality?
Good question! So the tiles are fine, they are not CMON level of quality but they get the job done. Same with the cardboard chits for the enemies. The biggest thing is the cardboard border for me, and TBH the cards are not the nest quality either. I would say you go for this game for the rich experience of playing it, not the quality of components. The minis do look really good!
Mike! I have now played it one time with others in co-op mode, and it was amazing!! We ganged up on the boss and wonm in the last round! It is slower though, and it was the first time my teammate had played. So I think next time it will go faster!
Just curious you lined up 2 rooms and placed their walls next to your door. Shouldn't the rooms be door + door = locked entrance ?It's not like you can open a door and walk through the wall.Correct? 2nd edition printing just released so looking at the game a new.
What happens if there are no enemies to activate during the monster turn? Do you go straigh to the bottom of the AI card and take the penalty for having no monsters in play? I hope that question makes sense LOL Thank you
I have!! For me, this one is hands down a better game. I am not just matching symbols in an abstract dungeon, I am controlling minis on the board and attacking enemies that move as well. Dragonfire is a great deckbuilder, but this game takes deckbuilding to a new level for me. :) Hope that helps!
The game designer did say he has "some" leftover painted sets that he will make available for $50 once this game hits retail. Don't know how he'll announce this though.
@@OneStopCoopShop Tomorrow I will get Gloom of Kilforth (thanks to you), and I was hoping that it will be me last purchase this year, but... Dungeon Alliance looks sooooo goooood
Colin, your ability to play all these games simultaneously and remember the various rulesets is exceptional. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mike! That is the reason though why I use subtitles etc. as I am sure going to miss a rule here or there. But I try and get these vids out so people can see if the game will be worth it to pick up!
Colin I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the play through. Thanks for your hard work bring to life these games for us.

Thanks so much for the video. It really helps to see the game in action to get a feel for the gameplay and rules.

My copy should be coming soon, and I can't wait. It looks brilliant. Thanks for doing a playthrough.
Thank you for watching! The gameplay is stellar. I will say the components are less than stellar, but MAN the gameplay is wonderful!! So juicy! :)
I opted for the painted mini's which look nice enough, although it's a shame about the components.

Getting to level 2 cards so early seems key.
I am hoping it helps, but I guess we will see!!
I wish I had as much time to play all these games
Totally get that, I would say this is the biggest deterrent for games, lack of time!

Oh for sure you can have more cards in hand!
For the frame I use the clips I got with dungeon saga they work fine 😎
Good thinking!
Good play so far, you're helping me to figure out this game. Also Saytr is pronounced SAY (like something you say) - TER, so long A. Thanks again.
HAHA yeah sorry about that! Thanks for watching!

Yes,I'm addicted to gloomhaven. Mostly play solo. Thanks.
This is right up your ally then!! :)
Nice job! Don't forget you Aura protects Melinda from the poison :)
Thanks where did I miss that? I want to put up a note, do you remember?
I think it's around 22:30? Melinda would take a wound but it wouldn't be a poison one...
Looking back at the Aura card, it only affects ally's that are adjacent and Melinda is 2 away.
U should ask revenue u made me buy this one, question can u draw more than ur hand limit if I use a card effect ? This game looks awesome

Best part of the game. You can pay more move to find secret doors that is why I can put the room in any way I see fit. Part of the strategy!
Is this game out for retail yet? I want it!
Not yet, but it will be soon. I think you can pre-order it. Glad you are enjoying it!!
Still looking interesting although playing with 4 characters that all kind of have to pick from the same hand might slap me some AP ;)
The AP can be rough for sure, but you get used to it hahaha! :)
I guess its only really a problem if you are playing with other people ;)
13:45 Why ar you beeing attacked for 4 instead of 2 ? tnx!
Ahh the Co-op card had a +2 for the one I was using, so its attack is a total of 4!

Thanks!
Could be better if the setup phase is also posted.
Not sure what you mean, there is a setup video posted?

Looks interesting but it looks that there is alot going on.
