- 1. Is it worth visiting the Hearst Castle (an American Castle in California)? (Yes!!!)
2. Is it possible to complete a day trip from Monterey to Hearst Castle? (Yes! Just leave Monterey at least 3 hours prior to the excursion to have enough time to make a few stops on your way along the coastline).
3. Are there any places to see Sea Lions on the way to San Simeon from Monterey? (Yes! If you travel in May just a 10-minute drive from the Castle you will see a huge beach with hundreds and hundreds sea lions).

Thank you! It's great the Castle is finally open! We took 2 excursions (we are Greedy Travelers!): Grand Rooms Tour and Upstairs Suites Tour. The guides were great. Now I am very interested to take Evening Tour to see the Castle at night! Evening Tour is usually available in fall-winter time, not in summer.

Your time is limited by the tour. Unfortunately, the Castle's guests are NOT allowed to walk around the Castle by their own ): The good thing is that the number of the tours are not limited per day. You may join as many tours as you wish! (:

You will need a permission only if you are planning to bring professional equipment to make a video for commercial purposes. If you want to help Hearst Castle making a video for educational purpose or sharing your videos with friends and family, you will be fine. I used my Iphone during the tours.
