I am a bit of a self taught novice on Access but found your video really informative and easy to understand - you even preempted the questions that were forming in my head. Thanks

Wow! Why didn't I think of this? It was in front of my eyes all this while. Will give this a try and hope to see that dreaded "could not lock the file" error go away. Thanks buddy!

    Hello,
First off all, thank you very much for your videos. They are really helpful!
After I divided the BE and FE, I tried opening the database with two FE. I looked at the BE after and saw that there was another file (Database.laccdb). Should we go to the BE file properties and change permissions, in order to avoid incompatibility errors when two or more FE are linking to one BE?
    Thank you very much!

The .laccdb is called a locking file. It records who currently has a database open. The front end, and the backend will have one. You will want to make sure, in your properties - I believe, that the default setting for opening a database is not "exclusive". That will keep a second front end from opening a backend.

Hi. How to distribute and update the front-end to multiple users ? All of the code that I searched was old and not compatible with latest versions of ms access .

Can this be done using SharePoint instead of a local network?

I have never used sharepoint, but as I understand SharePoint, it is SQL Server behind the scenes. That means you would essentially be building a front and and backend without being given any other option. I believe that is all built in to the tool when you build your database for a SharePoint installation.

You could map a SharePoint site as a network drive and it will work just like any network share with the backend hosted on SharePoint.

This video (and channel) saved my bacon several years ago. I was very confused about the difference between SharePoint and a cloud-hosted file system. Ended up hosting the tables in sharepoint and using access exclusively as a GUI to interact with them.
