this ultimate cleaning operation is so neat. i mean, if i don't take off that 32mm screw ( i pretty sure i don't have that tool), i can still clean the bay. just not sure if it is as effective. i don't mind to replace the ABS, but i have the same feeling that in fact it maybe not just because of the ABS anyway
You need to take the caliper carriers off if its the 32mm bearing model with the larger back brakes. The carriers front bracket will stop you getting the disc off. You will know if it's the smaller or larger calipers as the smaller caliper doesn't have hooks on the side of the pad, the smaller one has two tension springs at the very top of the pad and are nearly square. The larger pad/caliper model you have a more rectangular pad with hooks on them like the front pads. The estate mk5 and 4wd models had the bigger 32mm rear bearing so did some other models but it seemed random on other models so could be a 30 or 32mm. Just so people know If you have the larger back calipers that fit the full sized pads they are all 32mm bearings
I don’t like telling people they have done something wrong unless it is dangerous. Some parts of a car have to be LOCKTIGHTED IN PLACE AND THE WHEEL BEARING RETAING BOLT. IS ONE OF THOSE PARTS it’s a kind of super glue for cars be care full be safe
don't know about the golf, but on my mk5 jetta the axle fasteners are all torque to yield variety, they MUST be replaced with new ones every time and use a torque wrench when installing them - torque to yield specs are written as a torque value plus an angle of twist past the point the torque value is reached.

Seems weird you take it apart then put it back together again and its fixed.
Yes, I cleaned the ring from the abs sensor and fitted it all back. It worked for a while. The permanent solution is to change the wheel bearing.
