My first Band-Maid song was Dice, which has a Drum Bass opener and I've been hooked ever since. Because of them I found the Warning and so many other fantastic bands.
Kanami the PRS guitarist and evil genius composer and arranger, challenging all performers to something new, not just snippets of each band's style. Misa has always been a virtuoso bassist and is often featured. I'm a big fan of both bands, I've just known BM longer ;) ... this is a dream collaboration for me, and obviously the ladies were loving it.
I discovered Band-Maid because of their song Warning! Even though it wasn't the first song I heard from Band-Maid, every time I would do a search for The Warning this track would always come up. It's a very, very good song and is heavy and complex in instrumentation. Please give it a listen as a The Warning fan. :)
Thanks for the reaction! The bands have very different sounds, despite the mutual admiration. BAND-MAID's sound is usually very, very fast, with overwhelming drums and bass, fierce guitar solos. They sing in Japanese, speckled with English. And Saiki's vocal style is usually much less belting than Dany's (though she belted, this time!). Somehow, this song ended up about halfway between the sound of the two bands. The self-assertive lyrics are very in keeping with Miku (the rhythm guitarist and backup singer, and lyricist)---but there's at the very least a big English-language lyrical tune up by The Warning. I really, really like it. If you are keen, a nice BAND-MAID introduction could be: "Real Existence (LIVE)", or "HATE? (LIVE)". Trust me on checking out a live performance. "Choose Me" is a great music video. The Warning is greatly appreciated among "Maidiacs". I hope The Warning can do for rock in the English-speaking markets what BAND-MAID and some of their peers have done for Japan. On my first listen to both, it was a sensation both of hearing something new, and also something long-lost but returned.

It's always nice to see a The Warning fan get exposed to Band Maid. It was a genius move on both their parts to get exposed to each other's fan base. But that really wasn't the reason they did it. They just really got along famously and decided they wanted to get together. And you see the awesomeness that sprang from that
Band Maid sings primarily in Japanese usually (though the do have 3 other full English songs), but nearly every song has English in it to some extent. Their lead singer has a thick accent, but she's getting much better. I find it endearing.
Even Dany and Pau had some heavy accented English earlier in their band's life. It doesn't bother me at all. But since I noticed it, I wanted to ask the question about what language she normally sings. Thank you for answering the question.
@@Bodenmaddox Usually the song is half English verses, half Japanese. Miku is the rhythm guitar and second vocals (she was in the center here), she writes both Japanese and English lyrics. These are her lyrics too

Not terribly familiar with The Warning, have heard a couple of their songs, but Band-Maid I've been following since I believe it was Oct 2014 when they first song hit TH-cam. The vocals was more of 'The Warning' style I think, as Saiki (lead singer) doesn't usually do a lot of high belting like that. As for Band-Maid's style, it varies from Metal, to hard rock, to punk rock, to pop, and sometimes all in the same song. Band-Maid's arrangements are what hooks me, Kanami (the lead guitar, and yes the ones you say in the PRS interview) is not only a great guitarist, but she does a lot of the song composing and arrangements ... this was more of a 'straight forward rock-n-blues' song than Band-Maid usually does, although it did throw in a few interesting licks and phrasings, usually you're going to get a more 'spotlights' on each musician's abilities, but done in a way that doesn't interrupt the singers Saiki (Lead singer) and Miku (backup vocals and guitar, but does take lead duties at times, and usually has the major hand in writing lyrics) Band-Maid's forte in my opinion is in always creating fresh new songs (like I said I've been following since 2014, and after the first 3 albums I was a bit worried that they couldn't keep it up writing new songs and making them sound new and interesting every time, but so far they have just 'kept on keeping on'!) They are all super skilled musicians and even within a single song they never play any chorus or verse the same way. One chorus they might have the Drums and bass do some interesting fills, then in a verse they will change up the guitar and do some crazy riff harmony with the vocals ... and then there's the bridges and solos, always different, dynamic and original (in the many songs they have done ... 120+ if you include live, and MVs, there are only 2 instances where I could say that "I've heard them play that line before in one of their other songs. ) Band-Maid has done a couple other colabs with some fairly famous Western bands but in my opinion the colab has always brought down the Maid's energy level a bit, but this colab is the exception. Lots of energy ... not quite as 'complex' as Band-Maid's usual stuff, but it certainly had the energy and it's own little twists and turns throughout to keep it interesting.
To answer a few of your Band Maid questions: Yes that was Kanami with Daniela in the PRS interview. BM songs are typically sung in a mixture of Japanese and English, though there a few all English or all Japanese songs. As for the question about the bass lines opening and closing songs, no it's not a BM thing. Members: Saiki: lead vocal Miku: rhythm guitar/ backing vocal MISA: bass Kanami: lead guitar Akane: drums Band formed in 2013 same members All members are in abouts 30 years old. BM have over 130 songs in their catalog, so go dive in. The Maidiacs will come. 🙂 *Welcome to BAND MAID!* 🤘❤🔥🤘
Ale was impressed with Misa's trick of switching between picking and slapping. When she needs to slap she holds the pick with her thumb against the side of her forefinger and she can bring it right back to pick again. She also finger plucks on slower songs. Kanami the lead guitarist and chief composer wrote this song with a lot of input from The Warning. The lyrics are credited to Miku Kobato and The Warning. Kanami comes across as a soft-spoken airhead, but is a really a sadistic drill sergeant at heart. She pushed both Saiki's and Dany's vocal skills in this song. Normally she just torments their drummer Akane with higher BPMs than Akane can normally play or makes their rhythm guitarist, Kobato, learn a new guitar technique. Kobato couldn't play the guitar when she started Band-Maid and was originally the lead vocalist. Band-Maid's catalog is vast at over 130 songs with a great variety. These bands really like each other.
The biggest discovery in this collab - while touring Japan Dani discovered Spicy Ramen, Po! Now, the Spanish version, por favor, Pou! Arigatou, Po! 🦍🍌FYI, in a PRS Japan interview with Dani and Kanami, they eluded to a CDMX collab (2025?) with The Warning taking the lead. Dani challenged Kanami (Lead G with the PRS you mentioned, main composer) that they should write and sing a Spanish lyric'd song, Po! 🇲🇽
Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too!
8 top tier musicians on one stage, and they all actually like each other and are big fans of each other, kind of like their fans, if you like one there's no reason not to like the other, they are rocks' guardian angels, and definitely the two best touring rock bands in the business today
Please do check out more from Band-Maid. Many fans of one have become fans of the other. Band-Maid has a very deep and diverse portfolio, so dive on in to the Pigeon hole and enjoy the journey. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
The video enhanced the song for me on this one. You don't see two great bands get together like this. Awesome. Check out BAND-MAID's latest instrumental FROM NOW ON. It's a rock/metal/prog affair that should be in your wheelhouse. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 2.18
It’s a good catchy song about self-empowerment, and all things considered, a great collaboration given the expected compromises in styles. It’s my understanding that Kanami (lead guitar) primarily composed the music, and Miku (rhythm guitar) initially wrote the lyrics which were subsequently modified a bit by The Warning who are obviously more comfortable with English than Band Maid. 😎👍
My friend: DarWin, The Warning and Band Maid...3 de las mejores Bandas del mundo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Band maid are top tier rock musicians. Alot of diversity in songs. Saiki, lead singer has a great lower register. Their acoustic stuff is the best. My favorite two bands.
During the PRS interview that Kanami and Dani did, Kanami already had her own Private Stock guitar from PRS. She played it down, but she was playing it here.
Oh, cool. I did see the interview and noted that part where Dany wanted one and Kanami had one (on order at the time of the interview, I think she said?). I didn't know she had it in the video (like I said, I don't know instruments well enough to identify anything on-sight). Very nice.
The Warning's song Wildfire has a verse about "fly higher." "We're a wildfire They try to shut us down We're the high flyers They try to pull us back on the ground."
Actually Ale did the first solo and then Misa answered, the difference is Ale’s style is more like a down-the-scale technique, while Misa’s is slapping technique. 😉👍🏼
Hello from Japan.🤘🤘🤘 Misa is the most popular musician in Banme. Please listen to this. (Official video) HATE?. Don’t you tell me. No God. From now on. Onset. Influencer. Play. And Dice.👍👍👍
I fell in love with The Warning from whispers while listening to Band Maid. Band Maid has been around for 10+ years so I fell in love with them first. Band Maid songs are usually some Japanese some English. Checkout Band Maid live with their song "Hate" live at Yokohama Arena. It will give you a good since of what they are about... except most Band Maid songs are lyrically uplifting and empowering... except "Hate". "Hate" is after someone got jilted by some guy, so the songs music is typical Band Maid, but the lyrics are a departure from their usual.
Band-Maid normally sing in Japanese, sprinkled with English words and phrases. They have put out a couple of songs all in English, but none of the members are fluent in English -- not like The Warning. The music for this song was written by Kanami, the lead guitarist and composer of Band-Maid. Both bands participated in working it up into a final song. Kanami likes to give the members a chance to shine, so all 8 got a moment -- in a three and a half minute song -- to shine. Band-Maid have some great instrumentals too -- like "From Now On" (music video) and "Onset" (live video). Recommend "Hate?" (official live video) for some great bass vs guitar work by Band-Maid. The bass does do intros -- but so too the others on various songs.
Band-Maid sing in Japanese with some lines in English, but recently have a couple of songs totally in English. Kanami composed and arranged the song in The Warning Style but with Band-Maid style instrumental duelling. Generally, Band-Maid songs are much more complex, with mixed genres- pop/punk to metal edged hard rock, solos and duels etc. The style of the video is very Band-Maid- blue with beams of light etc. As a Band-Maid fan I have tickets for The Warning tour of the UK next year, who I consider to be classic/hard rock in style- is that right?
The Warning has varied. Overall, they call themselves "Rock." They have dabbled in Heavy Metal themes, Hard Rock, Ballads, Pop Rock, and Alternative Rock. When asked, they just say, "We play Rock." 😀
About as good as you can get for a collab. Song written by Band Maid lead guitarist Kanami. Definitely not as complex as majority of Band Maid music. Common elements of Band Maid songs are strong use of every instrument, particular emphasis on drums and bass and rhythm guitar. Also multi layered vocals.
Please check out Band-Maids songs "Play" Official Live or "HATE?" Official Live ! Both songs are in my top ten Band-Maid songs =) Nice Reaction Boden Maddox The Play song starts with Bass Solo's New /Sub
Ending with bass is something The Warning have done before, so I wonder if that was done on purpose. I know that I read an interview with BM's song-writer and she said she wanted to do this with elements of TW's style.

The split language thing is common to Band Maid songs so efery official relase has subtitles even form the 2023 10th anniversary show (three hours of eargasm for the 70.000 fans in arena PLUS a stream. Warning wrote this AND some more songs just for Band Maid.
And to Band-Maid fans it sounds very much inspired by The Warning - since it's not what Kanami has been writing recently. It's more stripped back, and the belting song-style is a lot more The Warning than Band-Maid. It's pitched to Dani's voice rather than Saiki's. But then we don't know where Kanami is headed musically anyway, which is part of the interest. Band-Maid has gained and shed fans over the years as the sound has developed and changed - and it seems that will continue. But probably not this sound.
@@Bodenmaddox Apparently Kanami revised her initial writing efforts, away from a mix of styles toward something that would challenge both. While there are still elements of both, neither fandom can claim it outright as standard! The video production however is a very Japanese style.
I'm a Maidiac, not as deep into The Warning as a true TWA, but everything I've heard, I've loved. So I continue down The Warning rabbit hole. I can totally understand why both Maidiacs and TWA say it sounds more like the other band. Kanami did a awesome job taking elements from both and blending them together. It's like the old saying..."If Band-Maid and The Warning were to have a baby..."🤣 As @PaulEngineer mentioned, Kanami pushed both bands, like she normally pushes and challenges the Maids. Kanami: "A-chan, how fast can you play?" Akane: "About 170 bpm." Kanami: "OK, I'm composing the next one at 220 bpm." 😂😂😂
There's five of them to The Warning trio, so there is that. Should time be divided individually or on band basis? Seems they kind of went with trying to feature all eight.

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.

Band-Maid's arrangements are what hooks me, Kanami (the lead guitar, and yes the ones you say in the PRS interview) is not only a great guitarist, but she does a lot of the song composing and arrangements ... this was more of a 'straight forward rock-n-blues' song than Band-Maid usually does, although it did throw in a few interesting licks and phrasings, usually you're going to get a more 'spotlights' on each musician's abilities, but done in a way that doesn't interrupt the singers Saiki (Lead singer) and Miku (backup vocals and guitar, but does take lead duties at times, and usually has the major hand in writing lyrics)
Band-Maid's forte in my opinion is in always creating fresh new songs (like I said I've been following since 2014, and after the first 3 albums I was a bit worried that they couldn't keep it up writing new songs and making them sound new and interesting every time, but so far they have just 'kept on keeping on'!) They are all super skilled musicians and even within a single song they never play any chorus or verse the same way. One chorus they might have the Drums and bass do some interesting fills, then in a verse they will change up the guitar and do some crazy riff harmony with the vocals ... and then there's the bridges and solos, always different, dynamic and original (in the many songs they have done ... 120+ if you include live, and MVs, there are only 2 instances where I could say that "I've heard them play that line before in one of their other songs. )
Band-Maid has done a couple other colabs with some fairly famous Western bands but in my opinion the colab has always brought down the Maid's energy level a bit, but this colab is the exception. Lots of energy ... not quite as 'complex' as Band-Maid's usual stuff, but it certainly had the energy and it's own little twists and turns throughout to keep it interesting.
To answer a few of your Band Maid questions:
Yes that was Kanami with Daniela in the PRS interview.
BM songs are typically sung in a mixture of Japanese and English, though there a few all English or all Japanese songs.
As for the question about the bass lines opening and closing songs, no it's not a BM thing.
Members:
Saiki: lead vocal
Miku: rhythm guitar/ backing vocal
MISA: bass
Kanami: lead guitar
Akane: drums
Band formed in 2013 same members
All members are in abouts 30 years old.
BM have over 130 songs in their catalog, so go dive in.
The Maidiacs will come. 🙂
*Welcome to BAND MAID!*
🤘❤🔥🤘
Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song
Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too!
8 top tier musicians on one stage, and they all actually like each other and are big fans of each other, kind of like their fans, if you like one there's no reason not to like the other, they are rocks' guardian angels, and definitely the two best touring rock bands in the business today
I'll second everything you just said.
A lot of BandMaid fans are also the Warning fans.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 2.18
The bass ending of the song is another The Warning mark from the song "Survive",
It’s a good catchy song about self-empowerment, and all things considered, a great collaboration given the expected compromises in styles.
Well, Band-Maid has a song "Flying High" (from the 2019 "Conqueror" album).
9:07 Yep, this is her own private stock PRS guitar. Kanami mentioned this guitar in their (Kanami and Dany) PRS interview video on YT.
Rock Stars Assemble! 🔥⚡🤘
Welcome!!!
Thank you for Band-Maid and The Warning!!!
Have a good day!!!
Very nice.
@@Bodenmaddox Kanami has been sponsored by PRS for a long time now
Yes, I knew that from the interview she and Dany did. Out of curiosity, I checked, and it looks like they were both sponsored at about the same time.
@@Bodenmaddox Since you love guitars, let me suggest you watch an instrumental by Kanami: BAND-MAID / from now on (Official Music Video)
I know nothing about guitars. Only what I have picked up from interviews with Dany of The Warning. 😂
The Warning's song Wildfire has a verse about "fly higher."
"We're a wildfire
They try to shut us down
We're the high flyers
They try to pull us back on the ground."
Actually Ale did the first solo and then Misa answered, the difference is Ale’s style is more like a down-the-scale technique, while Misa’s is slapping technique. 😉👍🏼
Hello from Japan.🤘🤘🤘
Misa is the most popular musician in Banme.
Please listen to this. (Official video)
HATE?.
They are rock and roll guardian angels and the best hard rock band on this planet🤘Keep an eye on them!!
The Warning? I totally agree! 😉😜 I am interested more in Band-Maid. I will check out some more.
Dany...Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you play music Band Maid is the Band to listen
BAND-MAID does have several songs that starts with a bass and lots of songs with bass solos, but I don’t think they have a song that end with a bass.
They do now. 😁
Their song ‘Sense’ has a similar bass ending (just a quick guitar lick after it though)
Thanks for the info.
Please check out Band-Maids songs "Play" Official Live or "HATE?" Official Live ! Both songs are in my top ten Band-Maid songs =) Nice Reaction Boden Maddox The Play song starts with Bass Solo's New /Sub
It was "her"
Yes there are several songs that start with the bass or Bass and drums, but this is the first song ever that they've ended with the bass
Ending with bass is something The Warning have done before, so I wonder if that was done on purpose. I know that I read an interview with BM's song-writer and she said she wanted to do this with elements of TW's style.
@@Bodenmaddox Intentionally. This song is made in such a way that both groups can perform it, including separately.

The split language thing is common to Band Maid songs so efery official relase has subtitles even form the 2023 10th anniversary show (three hours of eargasm for the 70.000 fans in arena PLUS a stream. Warning wrote this AND some more songs just for Band Maid.
It's a good song, but not great. It's definitely more of a Band Maid sound than TW, which makes sense as this is a song on the next Band Maid album.
It definitely doesn't sound like a The Warning song to me. So maybe that just means they did a good job of finding somewhere in between both bands.
It's not really Band Maids sound really at all.
BM is typically heavier, and faster with more instrumentation involved.
It's like the old saying..."If Band-Maid and The Warning were to have a baby..."🤣
As @PaulEngineer mentioned, Kanami pushed both bands, like she normally pushes and challenges the Maids.
Kanami: "A-chan, how fast can you play?"
Akane: "About 170 bpm."
Kanami: "OK, I'm composing the next one at 220 bpm."
😂😂😂
SE ENFOCARON MAS EN BAND MAID,,, 😎
Las tomas interesantes en la calle eran todas The Warning.
The cool shots outside on the street were all The Warning.
There's five of them to The Warning trio, so there is that. Should time be divided individually or on band basis? Seems they kind of went with trying to feature all eight.
Well, it is Band Maid's album and tour.
The #1 Japanese band doing a collab with the #1 Mexican band...and a small pigeon will lead them, po.
