Hey Bro. Warren, this tutorial is helping me a lot to reach my goal to play Gospel and Jazz better. I mentioned to you before how much I want to be able to play Jazz piano better. Understanding these Scales helps me to the possibilities to create my own style and see my voicing chords options. As you"ve said in some of your prior videos if you learn the fundamentals you're not limited.
This is my first time here. I'm a reggae man who has recently branched out to the blues. Today, I decided to check out some Gospel-- and found this lesson. I was not disappointed, and have subscribed. You know your stuff, and that unmistakable Jamaican accent still comes through! Blessup!
Take the relative minor - for C it would be A. The A minor blues starting from C is the C major blues! These videos are goldmines, thank you so much. I like your playing because I play similarly (tho not as good)
Wat a gwan sir warren, long time I haven't touch base, I'm good, good stuff man, breaking it down to the fullest as usual, keep up the good work, and God bless.
Warren um open for correction what i have realised is that when u play a major scale u are also playing the relative minor at the same time eg c major and a minor scale when u play when u play a pentatonic this is still the same relative minor eg Cmajor pentatonic =Aminor pentatonic
HIya Warren, Love your work. I know it was just an oversight, but at about 10 minutes in this lesson, you called the A minor pentatonic the 1-b3-4-5-and 6. But the 6 should read b7, as it is the flat 7 of A Major, just as the b3 is of A Major. This lesson is valuable for us to learn to improvise over gospel chords and really dive into the gospel sound. Thanks.
Sir, I'm always amazed watching your video. There are so many scales in music. You happen to know each of them. I know all my major scales. I know how to form the minor of each key. But I have yet to memorize them.. Sir you are good👍👍
I know you have a ton of videos out. Do you have specific examples of how you use each of these scales with gospel songs? I'd love if you could point me in the right direction to get more context.
Hmmmm I may, but honestly, I don’t remember lol. Check the intermediate and advanced playlist on the channel. If I did cover them individually, it would be in one of those play list.
Am I getting this right: did you mean to say the 1,2,b3,3, 5,6 is the Minor Blues in this lesson at minute about 7.23 seconds? You started out saying the Minor blues is 1,b3,4,#4, 5,b7 ?
Piano Lesson with Warren do you have any videos concerning the positioning of fingers in every min penta scale on all twelve keys? If no do you have a video talking about the technique? Thank you very much! 🙏 ill check again on your videos and try ro find a solution
Mark Joseph Pagsuyuin I have a tutorial that covers the finger for all the major pentatonic scales, it’s on my website here; pianolessonwithwarren.com/courses/the-pentatonic-scale-fingerings/
QUESTION!! When switching from the 1 chord to the 4 (C to F) do you use the F scale on the F chord or the stick with the C Blues/Pentatonic scale on the 4 chord?
Sir,Good morning, Even though Major Pentatonic Blue and Minor Pentatonic Blue, another three pentatonic Blues are there.(1)Suspended Pentatonic Blue :Notes:C,D(flat ),D, F, G,B(flat ),C.(2)Scottish Pentatonic Blue :Notes:C,D,F,G,G#,A,C.(3)Minor Pentatonic #5 Blue:Notes:C, D#,F,G#,A#,B,C. Sir, This the only information.
Speed is something you gradually work, practice your scales to a metronome and each week you increase that speed in small increments. This is how you work on speed.
Warren, Ussually I have problems to run up with scales, but running down I do very well.... when I make some arpeggios running up I do very well, but running down I’m weak yet :(
Unfortunately no well, and not at all on Selene mobile devices. The mobile browsers currently isn’t powerful enough to run the play. Hopefully in the near future the mobile tech will catch up.

Unfortunately this question is rather complex to explain in a comment. You need to look up videos exposing tonality in music to understand the difference between major keys and minor keys
@@PianoLessonwithWarren Oh, this is what I mean: 1 b3 4 b4 5 7 b7 8 . I've seen the minor blues scale described as that in guitar manuals, with two blue notes, one between the 4 and 5 and the other between the 7 and 8. Could this still be called a blues scale in your experience, or is it some invention that falls outside the genre?
@@balthasarte5649 that some sort of hybrid blues scale which I’m not familiar. The traditional blues is 1 b3 4 #4 5 b7 8. With that said, when playing blues we use all 12 tones of the piano as we’re often introducing other scales based on the chord structure - more advanced form of blues playing. So I can see why the guitar manual may have listed that hybrid.

When switching from the 1 chord to the 4 (C to F) do you use the F scale on the F chord or the stick with the C Blues/Pentatonic scale on the 4 chord?
Stick with the C Blues

Can you pls explain why in a video by another pianist said the
