I bought my Morgan Plus 4 from new in 2015 and still have it. And I still love it despite it's foibles. However, a lot of the local Morgan owners are swapping to the new CX generation Plus Fours and are loving them. They are very different cars - but still Morgans. I can see myself changing in the next few years.
We went around the factory years ago and were totally amazed. We could go anywhere ( other than the Le Mans & Prototype area), talk to anyone on the tools. Great PR.
Yet another great Episode. I love the idea of Morgan ownership but , pretty much as you said, wouldn't be inclined to buy one. A firnd did some years back and they are very quaint. If I owned one, it would have to be an older Plus 8. Mainly for the noise but deletion of the bumpers and the black panel under front of car have spoiled the looks for me. It looks too bare/unfinished without them. Ditto no Spare Wheel/luggage rack fitted to the back of the car. If the spare wheel is now an optional extra, I'd say that's "rather mean" on an £75K car. If it's all for weight saving, then at least fit a 'get you home' space saver..
Your discussion about the gearbox options was interesting. I visited the Morgan factory on Wednesday and was surprised to learn that whilst the manual cars are most popular for test drives, 80% of paying customers now choose the automatic option.
Interesting to know. I've got one on demo right now for a few days, the i8 I had shared the same gearbox, and it's epic. The manual is great but sometimes you just want to chill, auto is best of both worlds
This week the starting price for the manual has finally been lowered to £69995. For a handmade car, even the basic spec is good enough and a car that can be driven everyday rather than just on Sundays!
As the owner of a MX5 ND3 (184hp for little over one ton) I approve this car. Mine is underpowered compared to it but looks arguably nicer -if you prefer modern design-, probably revs higher and it's much, much cheaper tho, less than half the price 😊 Out of the actual competitors I'd get the KTM X-Bow!
On the Golf with the 2L 8v, I think you mean the BRM - Brian Rickets Motorsport conversion? He did the engine mods for GTi Engineering cars. I had a BRM Campaign, it was very special!
Having owned 2 Aero 8s, which were lovely cars to look at, but neither felt like the rear wheels were connected to the fronts, Morgan need to re-invent their chassis development department
Brilliant car ! Unfortunately I am 6'4'' with a 35'' inside leg.... Anyone got a hacksaw ? 🤔 Given the way modern cars perform I think I would be happy with a 0.9l engine, to be honest 😲
I think it looks great. Richard Hammond made me like these cause he drove one in a documentary of his in search of the holy grail..then even appeared in Top Gear. And oh one that got flooded not long ago. Gotta love the Morgans tho it seems like they are cursed in a way.
£90k for a 2 litre 4 pot from a Mini??? Sorry, but that's nuts - for that money, I'd want the B58 3L 6 as a minimum - no matter how good the rest of the car is, I simply could not stomach paying that much money for that engine.
It's a handbuilt car to your spec, it's a good price. I know it's a lot of money, a serious amount of money, but you really have to drive it to realise that that engine is enough on todays roads.

Do it. I'm about to get one!
As an American, this makes me think of a phrase from your side of the pond, “cheerio chaps!”

It's still a good day out now but they have better coffee!
Two old blokes BSing their heads off in a car with sliding windows; great stuff!

Bottle of goo and compressor does the job

I’d love to know where that road is, it would be interesting to run my current toy down there
Now I'm really curious to know what all cars Matt owns! I know about the Defender, and now the Imp, what about the others?

Does anyone know the roads that were being driven on - was it near the Morgan factory around Malvern?

You struggle to put the seat back while you are driving?
Considering they turned round a couple of times, there was plenty of opportunity to adjust the seat at a safer point in time...
with no bumpers a small bump could be very costly
The secret is to drive carefully.

Great vid… sort of appealing cars… but sooooooooo exxy!!! 💰💰💰😳😳😳

Doesn’t sound as good as an old Rover V8, but fast enough and very economical. Does it still use leaf springs at the back?
This two old guys chatting while bogging and engine is REALLY boring ie too boring to watch. (And I'm an old guy.)
So wrong. Lots of good points about chassis dynamics.
Yes. It did drag on a bit and become a bit aimless..
