@@stephencook7337 no "def jam" had the OPTION to sign "reign man" but winning this competition was not a guarantee of a record deal, and "def jam" chose NOT to sign "reign man" -- also that 25 grand they were talking about lol.........total lie, there was no 25 grand never was 25 grand -- had "def jam" of signed the winner of this competition, that 25k would be used a loan for production cost of your album HAD "DEF JAM" Of SIGNED YOU, which they didnt!!! so.....there was no 25k nor was there anything else (video game, tour, etc) whole thing was a complete lie lol -- no 25 grand, no record deal, no tour, no video game NOTHING!!!! (I know cause I was good friends with "locksmith" he told me everything ---- seriously bro, MTV aint gonna pay someone 25k like that lol I WOULDNT

Im here because I was watching a RJ interview where he talked about this battle. im a fan of his but honestly he got cooked in this battle......I feel like they gave the win to RJ because his IMAGE is/was more marketable......Locksmith looks middle eastern and from the bay area.....Def Jam cant sell that.
Locksmith won this square off, but leading up to this battle Reignman/RJ Payne threw more comical and witty bars at his opponents then Lock did with his..Thats why Reignman won the audience vote..
Locksmith SMOKED him first round Reign was jumping second round, but didnt hit hard as far as a “battle.” Lock was straight disrespectful second round and devoured. No disrespect to either lyricist but Lock was objectionably better. Sorry.
I’m glad RJ won, as much as I rock with Locksmith, Payne slaughtered this. The way RJ rapped in this battle was the complete pinnacle and epitome of battle rap. That being said Locksmith definitely improved after this battle, cause every battle on Grind-time he slaughtered and won. This the only battle I can say he gracefully lost.
