  • Mesquite, NV is a quiet little town, right on I-15 on the Arizona border. It has had a difficult history of water troubles, farming, and Mormon pioneers. However, today, it has become a senior snow bird destination and has many casinos and golf courses, as well as plenty of commercial development too. It is currently the fastest growing city in Nevada.

      Is there a lot of Veterans there, and how is the DAV or Legion?

    • @Cwo30
      @Cwo30 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sweetkandee1582There are a lot of Veterans here and there is a Vet Center shared by VFW, American Legion and the other vets organizations. It’s very small with no bar. They said they can’t compete with the casinos in town when it comes running/staffing a bar. Not a lot of members because of all the Snowbird Vets that leave in the summer. The majority of the Snowbird Vets have their memberships through the posts they go back to in the summer.

    Back in the early 90's, I was a student at Dixie College (Not Utah Tech, what a moronic name!) We would always goto Mesquite to party and for those that know this reference: We would go to swim at Little Jamaica!

    Looked at possibly buying property to build a home in mesquite but most of the undeveloped property was owned by large developers .

    It's very expensive compared to what it is. I just always like to stay there on my way to Utah. But it's just a super hot, dry desert that doesnt have the infrastructure Vegas has. Should be way cheaper for what it is.

      @@luperamos7307 well maybe people aren’t getting murdered every day or innocent kids being killed by a hit and run. Las Vegas is extremely overrated and overhyped and the attitude of the town is horrible as it looks down on small towns like they are boring. I’d take boring over being killed or robbed. I feel the crime is unreported also

      @rodneyvoshell9296 But what kids? You can't walk anywhere there or have any good functioning public transport. The only people that might have kids there are the people working these super low wage jobs. Everyone else is retired or is running airbnbs. They have some nice houses there, but nothing someone with kids there could afford.

      @@rodneyvoshell9296 I know that Vegas is a dangerous city and I wouldn't want to live there. All I am saying that there is nothing for kids in Mesquite. Either you are there as a retiree or work one of these super low wage jobs. There is simply less infrastructure than in Vegas.

      Smaller community for retirees not wanting to be in a city environment. I can see why it would have an appeal, but yes, still expensive.

      las vegas is a very large area with alot of crime. it’s difficult for people to call vegas home for a long amount of time, especially in the older ages or retirement. there’s also a sense of livelihood in mesquite that you don’t get in vegas. most of the people that live in mesquite have retired so they have no use for jobs, and even then there’s plenty of jobs in mesquite and the surrounding areas.
