Mat, thank you for sharing your info and experience on GT popping. Very useful tips too mate. I used the old Daiwa’s Saltiga GT6500’s and were and still are awesome reels. That topped it off with the Daiwa’s GT popping rods. I’m now getting the Certate LT5000D XH reels for smaller GT’s and big MJ’s and the new Daiwa Saltiga 14000. Love Daiwa 👍👍
Have you caught anything sizeable with it the Certate 5000 XH? what size GT could I expect it to handle? I just picked one up from gumtree on a pe 3-6 bone rod and it seems like it has 60 or 80 lb line on it. I'm keen to hear it scream.
Hands down Mathew Is the most knowledgeable and informative fisherman I've watched on TH-cam. His channel is incredible..not just gees. He is all round complete legend. Do yourself a favour and follow him for best stuff going around.
Wow. To say that that was helpful just doesn’t cut it 😀 I’m hoping to get up to GT country soon and have been trying to learn as much as I can beforehand and man, this is pure gold 🤩 Thanks very much Matt and thank you too, Diawa 😎
Good morning my friend I'm your fan I really admire your fishing congratulations for the very well filmed videos. fishing material you use is top a pity that not all people can afford it!
Hey Mat, I think it's been a while since I enjoy watching someone who explained like you did in this film about GT fishing.. I enjoy it 100% and I will watching again and again and again... 😎 A big like for that 👍🏻🤙 Cheers. 🎣
I never understand this issue of not using HG reels in casting we don't use the reels to pull the fish we pump the rod and wind in line on the downstroke. Only time I reckon need LG is deep deep jigging where you have to wind in lots line etc..
Hi, quick question from your knowledge and experience. I just got the new Daiwa Saltiga 20000H but I still could not decide which PE size I want to get between 6 or 8. I am deciding on varivas PE6 Avani Casting PE SMP which has the strength of 90lb. The reason why I want to go with PE6 because I want the reel setup to be versatile for both application casting and jigging on different rod setup occasionally but mainly I will be using for topwater fishing. Would PE 6 setup be suitable for the GT fishing on most part of this reel with extra bit of line capacity? Many thanks
So my wife wants to plan a honeymoon in Australia that would allow me to go fishing. I love her. My dream is to go GT fishing. Where are the best places, charters??
