- Scrum Masters jobs are being replaced by Product Managers as companies decide to get leaner and want to save money. Scrum Masters play a vital role in making sure projects are completed without any impediments but with rise of AI video conference software their days maybe numbered

Majority of the PMs at my job are also ScrumMaster Certified. However, as a Developer, I am also ScrumMaster certified. Personally, I don't see a purpose in that being a job by itself.
I agree. When I worked for JPMC one of my other teammates was doing the scrum work but did other stuff as well
I agree, I’m a PMP project manager expected to be a scrum master as well! It’s the new NORM. I am highly motivated to lead a highly functional team!
Do not waste your money on Scrum. Major corporations just did a mass lay off of their scrum masters. I have friends now who are seasoned in Tech and they cannot find any scrum roles. Study other areas of tech. I definitely will not be renewing my Scrum Certification.
So would you recommend going the Product Manager route?
i am facing the same issue i have been an SM for last 7 years and i have been applying for SM jobs for last 2 months and after applying for 150 jobs later i have not got a single interview call back so far, so time to branch out into other avenues
wow im having an issue with this, I want to become a project manager, but in order to obtain the PM certificate you have to have at least 3 years of experience managing projects and I dont have that. So I wanted to obtain a scrum master certificate to help get my foot in the door, now i am unsure how I can get in the PM field

She is correct they're replacing scrum master with Project managers calling them Agile Project Manager.
SM manage people the same way you just described what a PM does as being more than a note taker. I find it disturbing how sometimes we feel the need to talk down other roles. I have a SM on my team in a scaled agile environment and best believe it is chaotic managing multiple projects, dependencies and releases across multiple trains without a SM

Good scrum masters are alive and well.
Currently prepping for a new search (a PM) and when searching Scrum Masters on job boards the search results come back with Project manager roles instead. Plus from checking the scrum subreddit a lot of people have noted that the SM market is really bad. It looks like a lot of companies are phasing the role out.

s a scrummaster I struggle with exactly what you are discussing here...and I have definitely been negatively impacted by leadership that didn't understand the value of the SM role, leading to layoffs...this is also why I am currently looking to pivot to GRC/Vulnerability analyst role

@@TechTualChatter I'm just getting started really, have earned the Google Cybersecurity cert. Just found out there is a Cybersecurity workforce development program for an entry level cyber defense analyst role so putting in my application for that.👍🏾👍🏾
The problem is Scrum master plays the role of project managers in a Scrum team but they have less power/authority than a traditional PM than if anything goes wrong they are the ones in the front line taking all the blame even though it's supposed to be a "team effort"
How do I start my scrum master at 42 I am have good devops knowledge, Even you don't have experience in SM will I be eligible but how to show the experience. Please guide me. currently i job less for 1.7 years.

Original signees of the Agile Manifesto have gone on the record and said that this Agile Scrum Certification trend is not really necessary, ie, a money grab.
