Local Palestinians are very kind and hospitable, same as Filipinos. Looks like media really showed different side of Palestine. The mutual respect with different religions really matter.

An Indonesian who used to live there for 13 years said the samething, both of the Moslem and Christian communities are supporting each other. As a Lebanese this is very true. In my country their is a divide between the two religions unfortunately (and stupidly into politics). But in Palestine, the people do not have religious division. It is a shared struggle for freedom
as an irish person i know all to well how true this is about how national liberation struggles are always just painted with a broad brush of religious extremist conflict. they tried to say the ira just hated protestants despite having a minority of protestant fighters. pulling the religious extremist card to shape the narrative is one of the oldest tricks in the colonial playbook
I've just returned from being in Palestine and Israel for the third time. I spend time in the Aida refugee camp. So much compassion for the catastrophe happening there.
The besieged Gaza Strip is home to a small Christian population of around 1,500 people. While international tourists and religious pilgrims can travel to Bethlehem freely, the Christians in Gaza must apply for lsraeli permits in order to visit their holy sites.

I am Muslim and have been to Palestine and know this is absolutely true even to the extent where I went to a Muslim shopkeeper in Jerusalem and he encouraged me to support the other shops of what he called his Palestinian Christian brothers. Problem is they all speak Arabic and you don't know who is Muslim or Christian because they are so integrated and have so much respect for each other. Unfortunately in my country most Christians here don't see it this way and give unwavering support to the oppressors because to them they are the chosen people.

I met Japanese tourists in Bethlehem who are totally shocked at what they saw as they do not receive any information in Japanese media of the reality in Palestine. I’m also a Christian. I don’t think that Israel is trying to deliberately put a wedge between Christians and Muslims by different checking. I think Israel knows that Christians never harm Israelis by ‘martyr operations’ like Muslims sometimes do.

Syrian Muslim here. My take on Arab Christians is this. We are not only the same people, but we actually get along especially well in certain countries more than others. In Syria, for instance, we have mutual respect for each other and are on par with Palestine. I would also include Jordan in that as well. And Lebanon, there is a history of the Maronite Christians, having been divided from us in which the West basically turned them into crusaders. In Egypt, I think Muslims syncoptic Christians get along somewhat well, but unfortunately the Coptic Christians are stuck in a society where the Muslim Brotherhood permeates makes me feel sorry for them. To be honest, I'm surprised you know so much about palestine's occupation, but don't know about Edward Said.

If there is even one Jewish fool who is rude to a Christian, they are more than happy to make a big deal about it and emphasize it enormously. This while there are lunatics all over the world who are racist or extremist. The vast majority of Jews in Israel are very welcoming to Christians. Even in places holy to the Jews... while under the name of Christianity, Jews have not always been treated well... that is different with Muslims. Christians are welcomed in their shops when they come to spend money, or they are welcomed when they speak out against Jews, but as soon as a Christian wants to visit the Temple Mount, for example, that tolerance quickly turns to hatred, discrimination and exclusion. Christians are always welcome to visit, pray, read their Bible or show emotion at Jewish (and therefore also Christian) holy places.. Try to visit the Temple Mount as a Christian. You will notice that it is almost impossible to visit it as a non-Muslim.. And if you manage to visit, try to pray, read your Bible or show any emotion towards the place. You'll have a whole different experience than.. The Muslims guards there send you away and will scream to you as if you were a pig..

Syrian Muslim here. My take on Arab Christians is this. We are not only the same people, but we actually get along especially well in certain countries more than others. In Syria, for instance, we have mutual respect for each other and are on par with Palestine. I would also include Jordan in that as well. And Lebanon, there is a history of the Maronite Christians, having been divided from us in which the West basically turned them into crusaders. In Egypt, I think Muslims syncoptic Christians get along somewhat well, but unfortunately the Coptic Christians are stuck in a society where the Muslim Brotherhood permeates makes me feel sorry for them.
