Clip can poll about 9-10 devices per second, the main benefit of litespeed (aka Advanced Protocol for Mircom or flashscan for notifier) is that the more advanced protocols support 159 Modules and 159 Detectors per loop vs clip at 100 modules and 100 detectors. That being said litespeed and flashscan can poll more devices at a time and poll faster in general. Also with the zoning in the program it’s not necessarily fire is zone 0 more or less just whatever is correlated to that zone. Zone 1 could also be your zone for fire and 0 your CO alarm. You can also correlate multiple zones to a device for things like elevator recall on elevator lobby smokes.

13:22 that claim is ridiculous, NFPA 72 requires fire alarm devices to register an alarm within 10 seconds of activation, if that was true, then a lot of systems would not be up to code and that is not a new code requirement at all.

Not a bad explanation. An addressable system is literally like the human body. Your brain “talks” to all of your muscles and each bone is a zone. Your brain is the facp, and etc.

    Great video!
I have never realized that there were ADDRESSABLE CONVENTIONAL detectors!
I saw some buddies doing some repairs on alarms system with SLC loop [because of addressable detectors] wired class B[no return].
However, there were multiple T/TAPs and EOLR!
I am afraid that they would continue to do same thing or similar at other locations!
I tend to look at IDC as loop with tristate resistance (or current) signaling to indicate - short, open, EOR. [Alarm, Trouble, Supervisory].
T-TAPs would place with branch circuits and their EOR would lower the value of the total supervisory EOR!
Whereas with SLC, the devices are connected to a 2-wire communication bus which also provides some limited power.
Additional power is provided by another two wires connected to continuous or resettable power supplies according to the need of device type connected. This is also called a 4-wire device.
Since on an SLC loop or bus, each device communicates via its unique address, status of measured inputs to the panel, it's easy to implement T-TAPs.
The polling of individual devices provides the panel with supervisory information.
SLC supervises devices. A trouble may be with a particular device.
Also, simultaneous multiple device troubles may indicate that the trouble is related to the common denominator, the wiring!
IDC supervises the wiring. The trouble is the wiring including EOR value.
I'm new to fire and this is so interesting that I wished that I had delved into it a long time ago!
I'm mostly interested in Design and Installation which entails the Engineering aspect.
I'm pro Bosch but I see all Honeywell panels variants as the same!
