Ford FPV F6 Typhoon

- The Ford Barra turbo 6 is a popular engine choice at any street drags around Australia, however it’s not so common to see one running quick times using a manual gearbox. Wade’s 2004 Ford FPV F6 Typhoon uses the factory Tremec T56 6-speed with power transmitted through M&H radial tyres. The forged engine has been pushed as hard as 1100 wheel horsepower thanks to a Precision 8285 turbo at 42psi tuned by Independent Motorsports.

when the BA first came out i fell in love. i was 15 at the time. 15 yrs later i own one (finally), and after 6months of ownership, knew my next car would be either an XR6T or F6.

they handle up to 900ftlb of torque with the 32spline Input shaft and 7-800 with the 26spline. they also may handle 1100hp but not for long. you risk Breaking the Input shaft or the syncro's

My dad has a f6 typhoon tuned and make just over 380KW and 28psi on the dyno I mean it really hauls ass
It launched pretty good in 3rd gear once and it smoooked a V8 maloo
My car looks exactly like this video now that I notice it it's silver with black rims and on the rims there's chrome bolts exactly like the front rims on this 04

Steve s, dude I've seen him light up half track. Also in this video he is only on his low boost from what I can see because he is running identical times and mph to what he ran at Heathcote with 573rwkw.

The T-56 is a stout transmission to begin with. It has been behind V8's/V10's since the early 90's.

How isn't that T56 destroyed?? I'm sitting here waiting for my T56 to turn up as I watch this lol, but as far as I know they're only built to handle around 450 lb-ft of torque.

interesting fact in the early 2000s Aston Martin asked ford to make them a new engine and ford took this i6 and used cad to double it into a V block which is the same v12 Aston use to this day even the hyper car Vulcan!!! also the vantage vanquish and dB's so it must be a very good platform to be used for 15 years

incorrect the early db9 v12s and vanqish v12 used engines based around the duratec platform, essentially 2 v6s moulded together in a highly modified form

@Malachi Stephenson wrong. The stock pcm up until recently hasn't been able to do it. Now it can.

pretty Cook engine to bad ford didn't bring it to the states tho they were co busy flooding us with v8s and turbo i4s to give us something in between the two

I love those engines they move so much weight so fast but the style of the car are way outdated inside and out even in the latest models.

As far as we know this is about the quickest manual street Falcon Barra going around so its easier said than done.
It's basically a stock drivetrain. If he's too brutal with it it will just break.
