    I've been using that Freud FTG blade for years to cut flat bottom groves and dados. I have a dado stack, but find the rip blade cuts absolutely flat, no "bat wings" and cuts a full 1/8" wide. I recently had it re-sharpened at Ridge Carbide and it's as good as new. Thanks

    I've never had a problem making dadoes with an Alternate Top Bevel blade. The little grooves it creates gives glue a place to settle, thus creating less squeeze-out, while still providing plenty of holding power.

      Grooves? Hmm, you are onto something. I guess if it's not facing out and visible, the grooves would provide more holding power for glue, or epoxy, etc. Nice point man.

  • @Techreux
    @Techreux ปีที่แล้ว

    It seems there are 2 caveats to both drill guide blocks. Common complaint with the mouse guide was holes not being perpendicular AND some drill bits being too large for the size hole; Kreg also had issues with some bits too large for hole. After careful consideration, decided the Kreg would be the better fit. Nice video, could stand to be shortened up by a few minutes (sorry, I'm after all folks to keep their videos at or under 10 mins. where possible).

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha! I agree with you on all points. I'm leaning towards the Kreg as well! I'm also trying to shorten the videos too. I find myself being a little too long winded at times! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching Michael!

      I believe it’s a matter of how new to woodworking you are.
      The seasoned woodworker would rather see shorter offerings.
      However, for those of us starting out, (Like me) I’m happy to hear every speck of experience you can provide. And we all have the option of changing channels.
      I have never been disappointed with anything you’ve posted. Thank you!

    I have the Milescraft cookies but they are infuriating to use as paint points. They will fall over if you do anything more than set a painted piece on it. If you’re trying to paint or reposition or nudge they will fall and piss you off. They are great on their flat sides but the paint point is just impossibly frustrating. There are a million other ways to achieve paint points. Put nails or screws in scraps and flip them. Anything works better than the Milescraft paint point function.
    Love your videos. Any chance you’d make a video showing how you would build a cubby cabinet for your plastic totes in the background? I’ve seen the few methods and have done 3/4 ply box with 1/2 shelves held in dados. Two containers wide by seven high. Two units and that lets me put them on top of each other or side-by-side. Really helps when a few of the are heavy and many are light.

      @FlynndoggWoodwork  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for sharing that Fearsome Warrior, I love hearing peoples experience with different products! I wonder if placing the cookies on each corner perpendicular to each other might help the stability? Good to know, and sounds like the cookies might be best used for spraying vs. painting. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

    I’ve got both of those drill blocks and I use them for different tasks. The Milescraft one has a cut out down the middle that sits on the corner of a board and allows you to drill directly into an outside corner. The Kreg has a step on it that grips the side or end of a piece of 3/4” material and you can go square into the end grain. I’ve used both as doweling jigs before lol. Great video as always Bryan!

    Another well presented video Mr. O'Flionn, I like the claw for the Mitre saw...I had a wee laugh at the start with Chevy at the Windsor as coincidentally we had POTUS himself Mr Joe Biden at our Windsor Bar (about a half mile from my house) in Dundalk Ireland last week. I got to within 5 metres of him during the visit and was chatting to his Sister Valerie...a lovely woman and I tell you, she is way sharper than most of my tools!...Best wishes and keep up the good work.. People worry about the piece on miter saw moving, or kicking back. No no my friends, it's when your HAND decides to instinctively go WITH the piece. When I saw your hand next to that miter blade I got super nervous and anxiety was kicking hard, like when I look out a window of a 50 story building. I really dislike my miter saw, it gets used for one thing, doing some quick chops of rough lumber, that's it. Other than that, it can pound sand lol, freaking thing wants to murder everyone. Jerk. The Kreg drill guide, I love it. I had to do 5/8 lag bolts into some table legs that were 7" and needed them straight - worked great. I've used it once lol, but you know how it it is. Would do it again too.
    Also, your hoodie - I'd take out those strings. I have an old hoodie I wear around a lot as well, but those strings are death in a wood shop :)

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my gosh, I never thought about those draw strings on the hoodie! Thank you, for sharing that! I can just envision then getting tied up in the saw and bringing my head in close. Geez! I'm kind of with you on the miter saw. I know a lot of shops don't even have them. I tend to do most of my cutting at the table saw, except when I'm doing a bunch of repetitive cross cuts. It's great for chopping down rough lumber, for sure! Thank you so much for sharing!

    • @thenext9537
      @thenext9537 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlynndoggWoodwork Yea those strings, one time and I know nothing about this, never happened but was using my wen track saw (it's for 90's, nothing else and it works, whatever it's cheap and good) my string caught the blade and ripped the string right out. After that, I re evaluated life and wardrobe. No hanging items, baggy, anything that's going to fly into something :)

    The reason that the "million dollar" tool has three points of contact is not stability, it is because you can nearly always if not always make three points co planar. IE, all three points will be in contact with or could be in contact with the same plane. Of course co planar will be stable but more legs is more stable. The drill guides and I have the Milescraft have a visibility problem. Make a punch in something to mark a drilling point. Then place the guide over that point. You cannot see down into the hole to align your drill tip. If you have a deep enough punch then maybe, otherwise it is hit or miss. I have a flat top ground blade for the same reason. I wonder if you knew this about your saw. I have a SS JSS as $4k is a lot too rich for my blood. But, if you have the saw powered on but not running and you touch a metal object to the blade and the table top at the same time, the lights on the switch will blink. Same thing with your finger. That is a warning that if you turn the blade on you will have a brake actuation. I could not/would not buy the million dollar thingy as the shipping cost darn near equalled the item cost and it just did not set right with me. LOL
