Seems like British musicians always have a good sense of humor and are very down to Earth.
It'd be fun to see their faces when that recognition hits them, similar to the feeling we get when we're familiar with an (old) song and hear the sample in a new song. Or in reverse, when we're familiar with the current song sample but had no idea about the original and hear the original for the first time. Your website has enlightened me and enriched me many times from that perspective.
Les Hurdle was bassist for Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer in their Munich period.
He even played on the "I remember yesterday" album which contains "I feel love"

Are they seriously not going to mention that this is a simple cover version of "Tramp" by Lowell Fulsom/Otis&Carla? Is this the same group that did all the reggae sides(as the Mohawks) for Pama? I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but do they mention the Palmer Bros or the Pama label at all?

@whosampled Next time do a bit of a medley of the different songs (that have the original artist's samples in them) that the artists can hear. Some might be familiar to them but it would be fun to see their reactions to some of the one's that they DON'T know. Especially if the offpring songs were/are current "classics." That way the artist can hear the many different ways their piece has been used/looped/sped up/slowed down/stretched out etc.
Very interesting this. Makes you wonder when these "artists" get all the credit how much of the music did they actually create. Could well be 80% of decent music is made by the session musician.
great track obviously but when we say it was 'sampled' a lot thats a bit of a misnomer - as in the melody is so strong that it was used more on break/ mix tape/DJ cut and paste style records as opposed to straight up rap records like the way Funky drummer was/is...ok there was few, Eric B, onyx and KRS1 but it was often more popular on tapes, in partys etc

@Tim Scott music is a universal language, especially music of their time.. Let's not talk black / white .. And btw Kendrick Lamar didn't sample anyone .. The producers/beatmaker of Kendrick's instrumentals did the sampling .. Kendrick just recites his rhymes over the tracks.

It's amazing to know how many white artists were sampled in the hip hop genre despite some thinking that black kids in the hood don't listen to white music. It's going on today, check Kendrick Lamar and the groups he sampled.
It seems that they were jobbing musicians who barely knew what day it was let alone what label a song they played on would come out on. They got one off payment then went to the next job!
