The thing I like about your works is that every details really go together, not the cases when only one part is absolutely perfect or every little details are neatly done but the whole piece isn't united :). I have a question. If a piece isn't drawn or painted with lightfast medium, will fixative be able to prevent that piece from fading?
Hey Lisa! I was wondering what you think about using grids. When referencing a photo do you tend to not utilize a grid, or is it better to avoid, is it a good tool, etc.?
Thanks for the reply! I was just curious, since often I hear many people say that it takes away the "Integrity" of the work, but than again others say its merely a tool. I tend to use grids to ensure that the accuracy is there, but sometimes i worry if I am too dependent on them...
I find it real interesting you show above and under water scene. Keeps it very original and done very beautifully :D I'm curious, you paint the sides of the framed canvas with the same amount of detail as well? I never really give the same care for the sides than I do for the face of the canvas >< I should though, shouldn't I?

Wonderful painting! I'm wondering if you have any tips of making them so fast. I know that it happens with practice and a proper technique, but I still work very slow. I paint from imagination so I don't have any references. I suppose I have a hard time figuring out how to make my vision become real, and that's why it takes me so long to finish just one painting..
Anchr Yb I've always painted fast, but you do get faster with more practice. Once you've got a good understanding of how to layer stuff things move along much more smoothly.
Lachri Fine Art thanks! Have you ever tried the flemish method of starting with a grisaille or dead layer first, and then glazing the colors over it? Or do you think it's unnecessary? I think it's good because if you paint everything in black/white/grey first, you only have to worry about composition, then you can worry about the colors later..

hannaahrr I personally don't use them, it's easier for me to freehand. Lot's of people work well with them though. It's just personal preference :)

Elise Wong I don't have much on the edges, just the clouds, sides of the water and a bit of coral, so no there isn't as much detail there.

do you use pastels? if you do can you do a tutorial on them?
Do you ever use watercolor paints instead of acrylic paints?
Coleen Pryce I don't believe she uses watercolours. Just oils and acrylics when it comes to paint.
