  • In this video I restore a 70 year vintage Ideal Toni doll and get her ready for Halloween with a costume along with a custom made trick or treat bag, and toy lollipop. I share a how to make the doll sized bag and how I restored her vintage dress. At the end I show five dolls that have been restored and dressed in costumes, four of the dolls also have their original outfits. They are available on eBay, to find them type in the title Vintage Ideal Toni Doll in Halloween Costume with Original Clothes.
Here is the link for the doll trick or treat bag.

I love you guys! I've had several Toni dolls but they were always blonde. Love to come across a brunette-and I had to come back after seeing all the costumes because they are so cute and gave me a big smile. Especially Bee girl!
You're awesome and such a good seamstress.

I am so happy you enjoyed the video. All Toni's are lovely but I especially love the dark haired girls. I think the black seem to be elegant Thank you for the support!

I think those wiry pieces in her hair are for keeping the sides back from her face, like a built in hair clip. I think you did a great job of keeping her the same as she would have been when she was new.I do think it would be easier for you to clean her once she’s been re- strung though .I love her purple fairy dress it’s very pretty. She looks beautiful now.But her hair is rooted not a wig.A wig is loose and not a part of the doll, usually glued on and dolls from this era are mainly rooted. All mine were as a child. And I think she would not have been much younger than me.🥰

I think your right about the wire. I just found another wire in a Sweet Sue it was used to hold her hair in a certain style. what era are you referring to. I’m 72 and all the dolls in this video are completely hard plastic from head to toe. There hair is not rooted they are ideal Toni dolls and all of them came with nylon wigs sewn to a wig cap. They we’re introduced in 1949 through 1956. during that time they did make some dolls with hard plastic bodies with vinyl heads. Some of those dolls had rooted hair . actually when restoring these all hard plastic dolls with sewn nylon or Saran wig caps the caps need to be repaired because they are so old. we just posted our next video and I had to do just that . That’s why we were late in posting this new video. her wig cap needed much repair. This video might be of some interest to you. I learn something new about dolls that I never heard of almost every day. They made so many different dolls during that era. Thank you so much for your interest and comments we really appreciate them.

The doll in the bath tub was so cute! I also like how you fixed the elastic on the sleeves. I'll try that if I need to in the future.

I’m so glad you liked the bath tub. I thought it looked so cute too! I learned that technique from someone else on line and it sure make’s restoring the elastic so much easier. Thank you for your support. It means a lot to us.❤️

We can’t tell you how much your comment meant to us. That is the only reason we even do these videos. We hope to help others so they can help their own dolls. But for us it can become overwhelming to do the videos since we are disabled. I know we don’t look like we are but it’s from birth and we are not strong at all. When we hear that it it helps someone it helps us to keep on going as long as we can manage so thank you again for the support.🥰❤️

How do you restore a super frizzy massive hair l washed her hair and used fabric softener but it’s still frizzy. It’s a Jessie international doll from Quebec. Her hair was frizzy and wirey at dated 1994. I got her for $19. I think curling iron might make it worse. Her hair is great. Love your channel.

I’ve got to tell you I have been where you are with a doll that we call scary spice because everything we tied just made it worse. This is the second reply I’ve sent to you but we just found out it didn’t send and it’s nowhere to be found. I was so afraid to use a curling iron as a flat iron on dolls hair. I had seen the out come of others that did but was still afraid. Until the doll I mentioned came into my life. No matter what I tried From soaking wrapping it up and more . Nothing worked so I tied a curling iron on a small part of her hair that wouldn’t hurt her wig if it didn’t work . It was amazing. I couldn’t believe how it healed the damage. Factories use very high heat to give a dolls hair a style . So when you buy a new doll with a style it stays because it went through high heat. Even though I knew that I was still afraid to use an iron. Left with no other choice I used a temperature controlled curling iron on her hair keeping wet as you can see in our videos . Her hair came out beautifully. People couldn’t understand how I did it because everything they tried didn’t work so good. I now use the iron on 160 degrees with a spray bottle of water to keep the sections wet that I am working on. I think you have a Saran wig by your description but I use the same method on Nylon and all synthetics. You don’t need to use it on mohair or human hair because setting those wigs is enough to accomplish a beautiful wig but you could because it’s real hair. That’s about all I can say to help you because that’s the only thing that worked for me and I tried all the other suggestions. Now I love working with dolls like yours because they come out so beautiful. If I can help in any way just let me know. If I can do it you can . Just watch the videos and do a test. The test piece needs to say wet not to hurt the fibers and temperature not above 160 degrees. 🥰❤️
