    Thanks for the easy Phish lessons. I never thought I would learn to play any Phish stuff. Very appreciated!

    Between this and your video of you playing "Your Best" I was re-watching to learn how you create all those great licks within the major scale. Most lick/scale work examples on TH-cam are always focusing on the pentatonic. You are able to access such variety with your slides and bends. I honestly don't think I've ever bent the major 3rd up to the 4th. (Like at the beginning of "Your Best". Such a sweet sound. Thanks Josh!

      Aw, thanks Scott! I appreciate the kind words! The 3 scales I push immediately: Major, Minor & Minor Pentatonic. Learn those 3 scales, get fluid with them, learn their relativity, and the possibilities up and down the neck are endless. And yes, I love bending that major 3rd up to the 4th, good ear:) Miss you Bud!

    I think your bridge is a chord off, which I am currently looking for..Marty Schwartz says the 2nd line starts on C/E (very similar to the Am)...

    • @JoshPearson
      @JoshPearson  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think Marty's somewhat right, and it may even be a Emb6, as I went back and looked through several live Farmhouse's and I'm definitely hearing that low E, but also hearing more of the Em in there. As I've watched several of Trey playing, it looks like he's playing an Em chord with his first finger on the high C (b string 1st fret). This is news to me, but appears to be accurate. Am G C F | Emb6 G Am G. I think that's it! That Emb6, or C/E works too though I don't think he's playing that, is news to me, never caught that low E in the progression until you pointed it out. Thanks!

      Thanks Brock! It's a Forshage! Chris Forshage out of Pflugerville, TX makes amazing guitars. This is the "Orion" model, customized to my liking (full hollowbody, cutaway up top). I love it! Guitar strap is the Lekato 3.5" wide padded. I love it too! Thanks for checking out the vids!

    This should be super simple but how do you play the verse part 'She didn't beg oh, not enough' ect. I'm struggling to find what G/B chord if that is correct sounds best.

    Good lesson,man.just curious why you wouldn’t call the a minor scale c major also?thats what it is,just another pattern of c major,and the song is in c or were you just pointing out how to find the relative minor of a key

    • @JoshPearson
      @JoshPearson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Michael. Yea, I see what you're saying. Yes, ultimately that A minor (aeolian) mode is an extension of the C Major (ionian) mode, but I really like to see the relative modes, vertically, from the low E to the high E, and in this case I'll use that relative minor mode, A minor, often. I prefer, and base my teachings around learning the relative modes rather than the continuation of the patterns. I think seeing the neck this way and understand how each mode relates to the key, is a very effective view.

      @@michaeldematteis3409 thanks for checking out the content! Yea, theory is nice as it shines a bigger light on the map but ultimately we want to train the ear to be able to channel what we hear in our head, onto the guitar in real time. I'm a strong believer that the two, ear / theory, go hand in hand, and help us understand and reference what we're hearing and why it sounds the way it sounds. Keep rippin!

    I like your lessons Josh Im really not a huge phish fan and wanted to learn a few for a girlfriend of mine but with this one I’ll stick to No woman no cry by Bob Marley and mix the two together for a medley. Farmhouse is definitely influenced by No woman no cry and maybe a phish fan can tell me phish has ever played those two songs together

    • @JoshPearson
      @JoshPearson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Wally, thanks for checking out the video. Yea, though I don't know, I would agree, Farmhouse seems inspired by Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry. Not that I know of, has Phish covered No Woman No Cry, nor mashed up the two tunes, though they would make a great mashup. Keep rock'n!
