I see some potential with this game, bruinsfan! Cutting out cards as I type this response. Looking forward to playing this game that - as you may have noticed - has a unique approach to ranking the players on the floor with its "cross reference" formulas. Should be a fun project. I'll provide an update once I get into a game. Cheers! 🏀

Very cool collection of guides! Those were so fun to read over & over as a kid…

I cherish these guides, Larry. So many great stats and still a great reference tool! Like you, I spent endless hours (for years) checking on how many times Wilt scored more than 50 points in a game and how many times he had more than 40 rebounds in a game. Wilt still dominates this book! Have a good one. 🏀

Thank you for all the great content and memories! I'm a 58-year-old who grew up in the '70s and '80s and rolled a lot of dice, flipped a lot of fast action cards, etc. playing sim sports, especially the big three at the time which were basketball, baseball and football.and your channel surely takes me back!
I also see that you have some games that I missed along the way!! I would have loved some of these back in the day as a lot of the basketball such as APBA (which was our go-to baseball game) seemed to take so long.
Do you remember or have a game made by Lance Haffner? It was a simple game but was realistic and if my ever-failing memory is correct it was pretty quick and fun to play. Oh yeah, I used to love Xander Hollander's "Handbook of Pro Basketball" as it was one I would purchase every season. Thanks again!!

Great commentary. I have heard of Lance Haffner and his collection of sports games but have yet to dive into that sector of sports simulation (yet). And, yes, I own all Complete Handbook(s) of Pro Basketball ever issued. Don't look at them often but cherish them, nonetheless. On another note, I've just pieced together all Basketball Digest issues from 1973-74 thru 1990-91. Those are so fun to read as the Sporting News NBA Guides don't provide the season recaps that the Sporting News Baseball Guides do. What's up with that? Have a good one! 🏀

Great voice and content Rod. I have a run of those guides and like you, I think they are the coolest guides out there. Good job !!

Thanks for the praise, domingopacheco! Those NBA and ABA guides are always a great reference tool, even during the age of the internet. I'm a huge fan of old reference and biographical materials regarding the NBA, ABA and other rogue professional leagues (ABL, EPBL). These reference books pair nicely with my passion for classic (and modern) tabletop hoops games. Have a good one. 🏀

Very nice collection of NBA Guides!

Thanks, man. I just pulled off a trade for the 1969-70 and 1968-69 NBA Guides, so the collection continues. As you can tell, I love these old stat books. Take care. 🏀

Man I do the same thing on eBay, good job. Those Fastbooks are cool and they look like they resemble Baseball's, Who's Who, which I think were great because they were my first look at players that I'd never saw before that weren't carded in Topps (big deal for a 14 yr. old kid).

You're right, Mike. The NBA-ABA Factbooks parallel with those "Who's Who" books for baseball. I've still got a couple of those, too! Basically, I love devouring basketball and baseball statistics and seeing how these player perform on the "cardboard court" or field. I still prefer these paper representations of stats when compared to the internet, although the internet is faster and more convenient. Have a good weekend! 🏀

Best basketball game I've seen. Would have to look at all play by play data to currently rate teams but completely doable.

Thanks for the input, Scott. This game appears to have been well thought out. I hope it flows well because the engineering and thought processes that went into this game were extensive. 🏀

Here's a request for a walk-through of one half or more. Would like to see how it actually works. Or doesn't work.

Edit: Prior comment was in reference to Regular Season Basketball (oops). As for ECS, my second video on this game shows more of the set-up, dice rolls and game play for the ECS game. It has a lot of symbols on the action cards that are sometimes hard to decipher. I encourgage you to download the game parts (with instructions) at our "Tabletop Basketball Board Games" page on Facebook. It's a pretty good game for its time. Good luck. 🏀

Does anyone recall T. H. E. Basketball game, circa 1970? My buddy played a mini season w/full stats. I seem to remember the game came in a thick package. No individual cards were in the set.

I love the input, Ken Castro. I hope that somebody can bring T.H.E. Basketball to the surface, just like we did with ECS Pro Basketball, which I will be uploading to my Tabletop Basketball Board Games page on Facebook. Coming soon! Take care. 🏀

@redfanrod T.H.E. Football was pretty phenomenal; would love to see it.

@@redfanrod Thank you Rod. I recall him telling me how much he enjoyed it; would love to find a copy of it for you to review. Looking forward to what's in store. Thanks.
