That segment wasn't about Soyeon personally trying to imitate the members' voices in her own performance, but about how during recordings, she would want the members to use certain elements of their speaking voice in their singing. So Soyeon would get them to speak first (e.g. say "hello") before asking them to use that specific sound while recording their singing. Hope that was a clearer explanation!
