    The dyno is more useful as a comparison tool as 2 different dynos can give big variation in readings,other problem with modern bikes is that it is impossible 2 recreate the ram air effect even with huge fans so the readings will be lower than the actual power produced on open road/track,and cooling will not be efficient.

    185hp accounting for Dyno error is pretty good for an older bike. Aftermarket pipes can boost this a bit more too! 200hp is well within range at the rear wheel! People forget just how far modern bikes have come, the new 1299 delivers 205hp at the crank, factor in losses and expect to see somewhere around 180hp at the wheel! With a race pipe and chip etc the same horsepower from the new bike is easily possible with massively better handling and electronics! Desmosedici's are a piece of history and are by far the best Motogp rep. yet produced. The Honda is lame by comparison being stifled massively in terms of power and price!

    • @ShadowLancer128
      @ShadowLancer128 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Simon J, Be that as it may, this bike made history in '07, and has gone down as the fastest bike in a straight line many times over, which is something even Yamaha and Honda struggle to achieve very often.
      Ducati's problem has always been that while its bike is making gains, its competition are always making slightly more through riders, electronics, chassis design and traction control.
      Not trying to be rude, man, I'm just adding on the information. Ducati has very clearly shown the public its hard working ethic to constantly advance itself wherever it can.
      As for Honda, I don't even have any words for them. Honda has bought more championships through rule changes than anyone. And they might have done it in 2016 again through the Bridgestone --> Michelin tire change in Moto GP.

      Simey2wheels the Desmocidici RR comes with a race stock exhaust that cost more than 10k.. it is a race bred machine .... a v4 engine .. except for the brake callipers that bike still has top notch specs

  • @greyhound3561
    @greyhound3561 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Owning one of these is an exercise in money - rear tire - $500, if you can find one - Bridgestone quit making them years ago, I bought two spares with mine, from a Dealership in Australia, the bike was owned by the head mechanic and had 10.000km on it, I rode it on the road still set up for the track and it was like riding a rocket - powered fencepost - only bike I wore with earplugs inside my helmet..

    Brian Braker I somewhat agree but they might do that and pull the plugs out and read them. i know NASCAR teams quring qualifying will run the car flat out and then shut the car down right across the line and let it coast. they then bring it in all pull out all the spark plugs and read them to see how the engine is doing. idk if thats what they are doing but good point
