Wrong. She doesn't really want the kitten and neither is she letting the kitten suckle her teat. Why? Kiki has grown so much and fought so hard to grow up despite having some breathing / heart issues. Honestly, seeing her go from being sick and unable to meow very loud to finally squeezing out some squeaks, to this where she and her mom can play together!!! My mom passed away the other day, and this really helps me cope with the sads.
I think because Mimi is still young it's like she's playing with her like she would when she was an older kitten... She's still learning to be a mommy also
Kiki cannot respond like a normal kitten would: she has too little co-ordination and too little strength, in her muscles as well as because of her heart. She cannot defend herself like a normal kitten that age, her development is more like 2-3 weeks. You need to intervene. Let the mother have a break and get the kitten some gentle play and exercise. Why have her in the box all the time? If she is awake she needs to catch up on her cognitive development and develop her bodily strength. And start using those stunted little legs to go explore.

Mimi is too rough with Kiki. Sometimes I think she is going to smother her kitten. I worry about how Mimi hugs her too tight and rolls Kiki around so roughly. You all have no idea about cats. First thing: The Bite, lick, bite thing is the usual way how parenting cats communicate "stop it" to the young. You can see that also between adult cats sometimes. Its actually the nice way of stop, as you all know the not so nice ways The holding with the bite is play. I guess mother cat has had not a lot of interactions with other cats, so she has got no idea of her strength. Obviously this can become a problem, but its unlikely. Cats that learned when growing up and as adults, what play, rough play, and fights are, can be very gentle when playing with humans, dogs, other cats or their young. I have noticed this difference a lot. And its the same with little children, if they dont learn what strength is they can be brutal later.
I think Mimi gets overstimulated with Kiki and gets wild and rough. She is also now nipping and biting Kiki. It's time that Kiki has more time away from Mom and Dad and learns to walk on the floor instead of that soft bedding. Her short little legs cannot get leverage out of the soft fluff, which makes it difficult for her to even crawl, let alone try to walk or run. And her short front paws don't allow her to push back or get away from Mom. You can see the agony on little Kiki's face when Mom crushes her. Mimi loves her baby, but she could also accidentally love her to death...
When munchkins are born with a dimpled sternum, this squeezes the windpipe and prevents normal breathing. Animals that suffer from this are constantly in respiratory distress. Maybe that's the problem kiki is dealing with.

It’s tragic to read comments oozing of cuteness and how loving they are….they overlook the signs of aggression in the mom cat. Ultimately this says a lot about this owner who films and pimps on the “cuteness” at the expense of the animals well-being. This is completely safe & normal. It's how Mother cats train their kittens to submit to bath time. Otherwise Mama can't keep baby clean. Trust me...Mother cats will NEVER harm their kittens. She isn't hurting baby, just establishing dominance & a bit of control. Let them be.
Remember that although very rare in domestic cats, mother cats can in rare cases kill their own kittens if they sense something is wrong with the health of the kitten. Even though there are no other kittens that this would benefit in this case, always keep this in mind if you are worried about the way the mother is interacting with her kitten. I hate to come off as being overly pessimistic but personally I just try to always keep in mind that cats are still wild animals even if we like to think we have fully domesticated them. They still have the instincts of a predator. I think the best thing you can do is show this footage or similar to your veterinarian and ask them for advice.

They finally had to dry the kitten off and heat it up . At six weeks old Kiki still literally could not find the right end/side of the mother, let alone locate a nipple, to feed, and neither owner nor mother helped out. Every single video ends with the kitten lying somewhere exhausted or crawling into the corner after failing to get a feed or get out ir get away frim the incessant licking. Despite all the hearts and flowers in the comments, Mimi has spent most of the time (what’s videoe’d anyway) alternating between ignoring, manically licking the kitten and doing this to it.

You can clearly see that the mom does get concerned when he meows in pain or discomfort and she just let's go, I have seen wolves play with their bite with a human they could easily crush bones with their bite they know how much pressure to apply but anyone can get hurt when being careful even, she is learning and very protective too

She placed Kiki under the covers in a bed. I don’t think that she was trying to hurt her. She lost her other kittens so she might have been traumatized. She might have thought that Kiki wouldn’t survive or she was trying to keep her extra safe.
I mean there has been many instances where cats and dogs abandon or end game runts or ones with underlying illnesses that may go unnoticed until a vet discovers it..
One of my parent’s cats, when he was younger, he liked to groom his cat friend like his mother did to him. Biting to keep his friend calm. “Stay still! Let me groom you” All was great until then and his friend got enough “Why are you biting me?” Nowadays, he sits on the couch and groom the hair of whoever sits there. My dad’s hair usually get so wet! So he, Tiger, is a social cat.
My cat's also made it a habit to sit beside me and groom herself, and then also groom whatever nearest exposed body part i have. Idk why she decided to do this, nobody's taught her to do it and we don't have other cats to also groom but it's a habit now ig
I have 2 cats. Cheddah is 2 yrs older than Echo. When we brought Echo home as a tiny kitten, Cheddah would groom her ALL the time. Still holds her down and grooms her.
This is a perfectly normal behaviour for a cat. She is giving him kisses while wrestling with him, meaning, everything is fine, we're playing. And cat mothers lick their babies a lot in general. At least it seems a lot to us.

The mother is being "WAY" too rough and you have to intervene and smack her gently telling her "no" everytime she does that! And she's obsessive with her cleaning, so you have to do the same thing. They are so adorable together. It's so good to see Kiki running and playing with mom, it broke my heart when we found out about her health issues but she seems so much better and growing so fast. I totally fell in love with her. It's made me miss my last fur baby so much, my husband has also saw the videos and my reactions, we have now happily rescued a kitten of our own, we've had her a month. I don't think either of us could love her more, she's a daddy's girl, my baby, and our daughter's "little sissy". I think she's big enough for the mom to teach her how to play and bite in a friendly manner. Kiki looks like she's enjoying it. Kiki is being more playful too. Mimi will have to be her playmate and teach her in place of her siblings (RIP).

If this is her only kitten she has no spares. So she's loving it with all her might. Spoiling her only child also is this her first time being a mom if it is she's learning too. I've seen our cat doing the same w her kittens. We also thought she's being too harsh but seeing the kittens running back to her immediately and playing with full force, I think that's how mama cats play with their kids to make them stronger and teach them how to survive
How old is Kiki now? She must be two months or so now. If that's the case, two things are at play here. One is that Mimi has started weaning her, and that's why she's getting a little rough with Kiki when she tries to nurse. The other is that Mimi may be coming into heat again. She seems to be rolling around a lot, which is one sign: another is her extra playfulness and a dip in her maternal instinct. Whereas she was very gentle with Kiki, that's going to change. . If you're worried that Kiki isn't getting enough food, and she's not really eating wet food yet, you may have think about getting some kitten formula in and bottle feeding her. I'm sure you know this any way, but whatever you do , DO NOT GIVE KIKI COW'S MILK! Yes, cat's like it, but they are lactose intolerant, and they can't digest cow's milk. Kiki will have digestive trouble to add to her heart issue if you do!
I also wondered about coming into heat, but all the cats we ever had were castoffs and strays, and we always got them neutered if they weren’t already. I’m really not acquainted with how quickly they come back into breeding condition. To let her breed with her kitten still so dependent, and to let Coco sire kittens again at all, is unforgiveable.
These videos are not current time, kiki is 1 or two weeks younger in these videos from reality. He is also feeding her other food. Can’t you tell how chubby kiki is. The vet said she was a huge kitten.

At this stage it's not so much about seeking food as comfort. that she tries to nurse from her mother.. They also have what's known as false heats, too, where they may show some or all the signs of being ready to breed, but not actually fertile yet. That's why Coco had been showing interest in Mimi: she had some of the signs but wasn't really ready. However, given the circumstances surrounding Kiki's birth, were I Coco and Mimi's owner, I'd seriously consider getting at least one of them neutered. Whilst there is no guarantee tragedy will strike twice, I'd take Kiki's health issues as a warning not to breed them again. Quite apart from anything else, it would be cruel to allow more kittens with congenital and chronic health conditions to be born...

I agree that Kiki is ready for solid ground…it will aid in proper leg growth and muscle tone. Also lets not forget that Mimi is a very young mom only one kitten to focus on. I think she also plays with Kiki, not just in a mothering way. I would set Kiki free from her blanketed box and let her spend more time with daddy! 💜💜

It’s tragic to read comments oozing of cuteness and how loving they are….they overlook the signs of aggression in the mom cat. Ultimately this says a lot about this owner who films and pimps on the “cuteness” at the expense of the animals well-being. Surely he can pimp “cute” to death, but at the same time also give better care or educate himself more about raising cats. 🤷♀️
Yes, too aggressive! I've left comments that these cats should be separated immediately. The larger cat treats the smaller one like a toy. I would be worried about injuries, especially to the eyes. And that biting could cause puncture wounds. I don't know if this is the mother, an older sibling, or unrelated cat. Keep the younger cat separated with it's food and toys.

This is completely safe & normal. It's how Mother cats train their kittens to submit to bath time. Otherwise Mama can't keep baby clean. Trust me...Mother cats will NEVER harm their kittens. She isn't hurting baby, just establishing dominance & a bit of control. Let them be.

Remember that although very rare in domestic cats, mother cats can in rare cases kill their own kittens if they sense something is wrong with the health of the kitten. Even though there are no other kittens that this would benefit in this case, always keep this in mind if you are worried about the way the mother is interacting with her kitten.
I hate to come off as being overly pessimistic but personally I just try to always keep in mind that cats are still wild animals even if we like to think we have fully domesticated them. They still have the instincts of a predator.
I think the best thing you can do is show this footage or similar to your veterinarian and ask them for advice.
@@xino_z Mimi did in fact move away after barely a two-second sniff of the newborn. If she’d had the space to walk off and leave her, she would have. They finally had to dry the kitten off and heat it up . At six weeks old Kiki still literally could not find the right end/side of the mother, let alone locate a nipple, to feed, and neither owner nor mother helped out. Every single video ends with the kitten lying somewhere exhausted or crawling into the corner after failing to get a feed or get out ir get away frim the incessant licking. Despite all the hearts and flowers in the comments, Mimi has spent most of the time (what’s videoe’d anyway) alternating between ignoring, manically licking the kitten and doing this to it.

Some mother cats tend to be a little more aggressive with their kitten as they grow older. Sometimes they play to rough and you as the cat owner should watch what is rough or not. If you believe Kiki is getting hurt you should intervene.

You can clearly see that the mom does get concerned when he meows in pain or discomfort and she just let's go, I have seen wolves play with their bite with a human they could easily crush bones with their bite they know how much pressure to apply but anyone can get hurt when being careful even, she is learning and very protective too

One of my parent’s cats, when he was younger, he liked to groom his cat friend like his mother did to him. Biting to keep his friend calm. “Stay still! Let me groom you” All was great until then and his friend got enough “Why are you biting me?”

She's a smother mother. I'm not an expert on cats but I've never seen a cat so obsessed with grooming.
I have 2 cats. Cheddah is 2 yrs older than Echo. When we brought Echo home as a tiny kitten, Cheddah would groom her ALL the time. Still holds her down and grooms her.

This is a perfectly normal behaviour for a cat. She is giving him kisses while wrestling with him, meaning, everything is fine, we're playing. And cat mothers lick their babies a lot in general. At least it seems a lot to us.

I've never seen a mother cat 'play' with their kitten like this. The larger cat treats the smaller one like a toy. I don't know if this is the mother, an older sibling, or an unrelated cat. I would be worried about injuries to the eyes and puncture wounds. I told this person to separate immediately; place food and toys in another area and keep contact with the larger cat to a minimum.
What shocks me are the idiotic comments I'm reading.
The mother is being "WAY" too rough and you have to intervene and smack her gently telling her "no" everytime she does that! And she's obsessive with her cleaning, so you have to do the same thing. Dont just sit by doing your videos and do nothing while the kitten is being hurt like that!
And as I've said before, let that poor kitten out of that blinking box, at least a couple of times a day. It needs stimulation and toys to play with.

They are so adorable together. It's so good to see Kiki running and playing with mom, it broke my heart when we found out about her health issues but she seems so much better and growing so fast. I totally fell in love with her. It's made me miss my last fur baby so much, my husband has also saw the videos and my reactions, we have now happily rescued a kitten of our own, we've had her a month. I don't think either of us could love her more, she's a daddy's girl, my baby, and our daughter's "little sissy". I think she's big enough for the mom to teach her how to play and bite in a friendly manner. Kiki looks like she's enjoying it. Kiki is being more playful too. Mimi will have to be her playmate and teach her in place of her siblings (RIP).

If this is her only kitten she has no spares. So she's loving it with all her might. Spoiling her only child also is this her first time being a mom if it is she's learning too. Ask the vet if this is normal and what can you do to protect Kiki without upsetting Mama. Even if it is okay, sometimes Kiki needs a break .

I've seen our cat doing the same w her kittens. We also thought she's being too harsh but seeing the kittens running back to her immediately and playing with full force, I think that's how mama cats play with their kids to make them stronger and teach them how to survive
How old is Kiki now? She must be two months or so now. If that's the case, two things are at play here. One is that Mimi has started weaning her, and that's why she's getting a little rough with Kiki when she tries to nurse. The other is that Mimi may be coming into heat again. She seems to be rolling around a lot, which is one sign: another is her extra playfulness and a dip in her maternal instinct. Whereas she was very gentle with Kiki, that's going to change. . If you're worried that Kiki isn't getting enough food, and she's not really eating wet food yet, you may have think about getting some kitten formula in and bottle feeding her. I'm sure you know this any way, but whatever you do , DO NOT GIVE KIKI COW'S MILK! Yes, cat's like it, but they are lactose intolerant, and they can't digest cow's milk. Kiki will have digestive trouble to add to her heart issue if you do!
I also wondered about coming into heat, but all the cats we ever had were castoffs and strays, and we always got them neutered if they weren’t already. I’m really not acquainted with how quickly they come back into breeding condition. To let her breed with her kitten still so dependent, and to let Coco sire kittens again at all, is unforgiveable.
These videos are not current time, kiki is 1 or two weeks younger in these videos from reality. He is also feeding her other food. Can’t you tell how chubby kiki is. The vet said she was a huge kitten.

That she is starting to eat kitten food means she is undergoing weaning, and that she now has teeth. No wonder Mimi's getting a bit rough with her daughter,: it must hurt each time Kiki latches on!
And if these videos are a couple of weeks behind times then Kiki will be well into weaning by now.. At this stage it's not so much about seeking food as comfort. that she tries to nurse from her mother.. Kiki is in the process of growing up, and whilst her mother will still show her affection, she must learn to do without mum's milk!
@@eh1702 From what I learned, domestic cats come into heat twice a year, and by the time Kiki is fully weaned, her mother will be ready to breed again. They also have what's known as false heats, too, where they may show some or all the signs of being ready to breed, but not actually fertile yet. That's why Coco had been showing interest in Mimi: she had some of the signs but wasn't really ready.
However, given the circumstances surrounding Kiki's birth, were I Coco and Mimi's owner, I'd seriously consider getting at least one of them neutered. Whilst there is no guarantee tragedy will strike twice, I'd take Kiki's health issues as a warning not to breed them again. Quite apart from anything else, it would be cruel to allow more kittens with congenital and chronic health conditions to be born...
