What a graceful, balletic and artistically beautiful figure skater…….nobody can outshine Mao with her enormous musical adaptations through her choice of choreography.
Mao kept evolving amazingly after this competition, and all those performance including Sochi Olympics are my favorites. However I have to come back to see this every now and then. Especially the one at Skate America 2006. So soft to the ice, so cute, sophisticated, effortless... No one else can skate like her. Mao is still my number 1 skater.
This was light, airy, effortless. The jumps became a part of the choreography and the straight line footwork sequence was brilliant. She just embodied the music. It was if she wasn't even putting any effort into the jumps. Wonderful performance!
Mao-Chan is a legend for a reason. That 3F-3Lo was really something and she really did “become that music.” Current skaters could learn a lot from Mao’s gracefulness, her interpretation, and artistic abilities.

I also love the candid moment when Mao, shown in this dress in the other video attempted to do an Arakawa(ina bauer extreme) and I almost was bent in a giggle-thon. She is very much a free spirited figure skater as well as passionate. Also, look at the height of her jumps shown here, they look BIG!
We would highly appreciate it if you don't bring other figure skater or even mention them in Mao's forum, no matter how good they are. Mao's artistry is unsurpassable and there are no other skaters who can duplicate Mao's style of artistry.
And she said the theme of the program will be "a first love". I wonder what Mao's first love was like.... sweet, bitter, or painful....don't know. But it will be so lyrical.

久々に見たらまた泣けます。なんてすばらしい踊り。トリプルアクセルができるせい？その成功の緊張のせいで最近の真央ちゃん、厳しいのでしょうが、天性の良さが隠れてるような。このころの天性みたいな音楽との神様みたいな柔らかいシンクロ。
ノクターンはこの演技が一番好きです。やわらかくてしなやかで軽くて。最後の指を伸ばすところの隅々まで丁寧で、見ていて幸せになります。アナウンサーの最後の「She became that music!」というコメントもまさにその通り！だと思います。（文法等間違っていたらすみません･･･）
静かな曲調なのに人々をぐ～っと引き込む演技。そして演技後ザア～っと沸きあがる歓声。

This is the program that made me a big Mao fan! All season long, it was gorgeous!
今観ても音楽と体の動きが一体となって、優美なすべりはさすがです。今よりずっとシットスピンも腰高でストレートラインステップもシンプルだけど、可憐さは変わらない。何より終わった後の笑顔が可愛らしい。またこんな彼女の演技後の笑顔が見たいです。

@g221731 このころはそんなに細かく厳しいルールはなかったからでしょう。ルールが変わってからオリンピックまで時間がなかったのでジャンプの修正はしなかったのでは？ まぁ、今やるより10代のうちにやっておいた方がよかったとは思いますが、バンクーバーでいい成績が残せていたかは分かりません。修正には時間がかかるので。
新採点方式になってから、ルールが厳格化することは既定路線だったみたいですよ。ルール変更についても噂はされていましたから、それの対策に取りかかるかどうかです。浅田選手は苦手ジャンプの克服が不十分だったのではないかな。とくに、3Sとセカンド3T。(^^😉
