I've seen them sold in clothing stores and wanted to make them with a fun gradient using some simple materials...done and done!     Those look terrific, but I must say it seemed a little wasteful. It looks like you cut off about half of the length of each tassle, so in theory after cutting off your first foot for tying (or perhaps perhaps two), you could have potentially made 2 earrings from one skein, and then just cut the center to double your yield.
