      I came to the comments at 3-1 looking for something like this. He looked uncomfortable approaching the net on his serve and volley. Wasn’t split stepping soon enough. I will keep watching!

      Yeah, Majeed was making a hella lotta errors at the net at the start. I have a friend that’s a 4.0 who puts away absolutely everything at the net. But then yeah, Majeed turned the dial up to 11 near the end.

    10:44 I love this point and how Majeed used a deep slice to push the opponent back followed up with a short slice to force an error.

      If the 5.5 is giving 100% to the match then I'm sure he would. He was playing serve/volley which he doesn't normally according to description and definitely not giving the match 100%.

    honestly, a true 5.5 will rarely drop a game to a 4.5, let alone 3. His technique is good so maybe he was just rusty? or maybe you're approaching 5.0 winston :o

    Majeed is a good player, but I don't think he is a SVer. Usually SVer will try his best to get a high percentage of first serve in. They are more like to use kick and slice serves to pull you out off position then use placement to win points, not gamble on flat bombs that end up near the bottom of the net more than half of the time. I think he prevailed in the later part of the set mostly by staying back on the second serves and beat you from the baseline.

    Majeed's kick serve on the deuce side is absolutely massive. It's almost an American Twist serve but the action and pace he gets is insane.

  • @billucf96
    @billucf96 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Winston needs to toss the ball further out in front on serves. It was painful to watch such a nice service motion with no power behind it.

  • @rsmith02
    @rsmith02 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    With a serve like that Majeed should not be getting broken or going to multiple deuces. He seemed to struggle with the transition game of getting to net (which is hard) and some questionable approach shot choices. He figured it out though and Winston's serve was very much to his liking.

  • @stephanesurprenant60

    While it is obvious he doesn't play serve and volley very often, all his strokes seem very solid and that meant you really needed good shots to take advantage of it. Early in the set, you pulled a whole lot of solid passing shots and a few very good lobs in awkward positions that, frankly, you just don't expect an amateur would pull off all that often.
    Some people may take out of it that serve and volley is a poor strategy for higher level amateurs, but Majeed isn't used to playing this style and you deserve real credit for making it that hard. Your return game was very solid and you ran down so many balls it definitely forced him to be too greedy a few times.
    Otherwise, in general, what makes SV so difficult to pull off for professional players just isn't true even for high level amateurs. Even 5.0 players can't force you to hit low approach volleys or half volleys all day. Most of their lobs will be too short or way out. Passing shots will be too greedy, too early or too high more often than we imagine. At slightly lower levels where people would struggle with pushers, you'd also be annoying for some of the same reasons (breaking rhythm, changing pace, trading very few topspin ground strokes). If you have a half decent kick serve and can trade a bit of pace for movement on your first serve, you can play SV and take away a whole lot of things amateurs tend to consider to be their main weapons.

    • @jmat94
      @jmat94 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. I once did SV with a solid pusher, and, after I won 61 61 he said “I never wanna play against you again”

    Majeed was able to expose Winston's backhand much better around 1-3 to 3-3, after that it was a matter of maintaining execution more than anything else (i.e. avoid unforced errors).

    Majeed's toss seems a bit left of head towards 11 o clock even on his flat serve, is that just me ? Seems like a big contortion effort from him then to make a flat contact - intentional? Fine for kicker but seems odd for a first flat serve to toss like that

  • @julianinc7161
    @julianinc7161 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice! Here is my 2-cent comment as an independent observer.
    Majeed: Excellent serves and volleys, no obvious weaknesses here. Good feel and anticipation. Second serves have a nice kick. When serving, you throw the ball in all sort of different positions (not my cup of tea but seems to work for you). I am wondering if more advanced players can read and predict your serves?
    Winston: Very solid groundstrokes. Very good returns. But for me, to beat Majeed the fundamental shot that is missing is explosive cross-court passing shots, I mean short angles, being stronger when stretching, hitting running forehands, etc. I think all good baseliners should master and develop fearful cross-court passing shots to keep opponents back at the baseline. It seems you only aim passing shots down the line or play balls to the feet Majeed, no single attempt to hit explosive short angle passing shots. As for your serve, it's reliable and sometimes you can ace, but I noticed that you rotate (open the body, shoulders) much more on the adv side than on the side, I am not saying it's wrong, it is just an observation.

    To play serve volley, needs a better serve, first serve percentage , and volley. If he had played a 5.0 player with that serve volley game, he would definitely lose. As it turned out in this match, most points won were from the rallies, not serve and volley, since not too many first serves were good.

    Muslims believe that God has no partners or associates who share in His divinity or authority and that God is transcendent, unlike His creations, and thus has no physical form. Nor is God believed to exist in (or be represented by) any material object. A number of divine attributes or “names,” which serve to describe God, are found in the Qur’an. Islam honors all the prophets who were sent to mankind. Muslims respect all prophets in general, but Jesus in particular, because he was one of the prophets who foretold the coming of Muhammad. Muslims, too, await the second coming of Jesus. They consider him one of the greatest of Allah's prophets to mankind. A Muslim does not refer to him simply as "Jesus," but normally adds the phrase "peace be upon him" as a sign of respect.No other religion in the world respects and dignifies Jesus as Islam does. The Qur'an confirms his virgin birth (a chapter of the Qur'an is entitled "Mary"), and Mary is considered to have been one of the purest women in all creation...
