Adam's a smart guy who asked interesting questions, not the same old crap ones he'll usually get, and he was still a dick. I actually felt bad for Adam, CJ made it awkward as hell for him. Fair enough if he felt like shit and didn't cancel the interview on Adam, props for that, but still, I thought he was sandbagging Adam to fuck.
I read the comments first and after watching the video Chris didnt seem rude at all he just gave honest answers and maybe seemed a bit tired or distracted but atleast he's being real

I came here expecting Jericho to be an ass (from what I've heard from feedback of this interview), but he just seemed tired but answered every question with depth. You don't have the be laughing and hugging every second to talk to someone.

The man's getting on there with age and he's been all over the place for so long. Time's catching up and eventually, you get to see your idols grow old. But hey! Maybe he just didn't give a shit about this interview. I didn't expect him to be the character but just be Jericho, which in itself, is often bigger than life.
Hugo Lalumiere he is getting up there? How old do you think he is 86 years old. He is only 45 years old. He is tired from traveling alot, like anyone of any age does. He can still out wrestle anyone in there 20s, 30s. You're kidding me with that old tired ageism shit. He just had a extraordinary match in NJPW against Kenny omega and gave there promotion new viewers and they got 30,000 new subscribers on there NJPW network, sold out the Tokyo Dome, and over succeeded the attendance in the Tokyo dome, by having more people feel out All the seats in Tokyo Dome since 1993 and putting in more because they sold out having more then usual on his name alone, he has mainstream mega star power and put more eyes on the NJPW product because of the huge hype and feud between omega vs Jericho. He mite not like him because Jericho is loyal to wwe and is close to Vince McMahon and calls himself A Vince McMahon disciple and he knows that this guy is always sitting on wwe with his TH-cam videos "Whatculture" which are biased and Chris is aware of his WWE chip on his sholder hate. I'm sure he doesn't like him because he says things about the company he works for. Remember Chris asked if he can go to NJPW and Vince said yes and loved the idea, Chris said he didnt have to tell Vince but he respects Vince and wanted to let him know because he looks at Vince as a father figure and is loyal and didn't want to do anything underhanded and backstabbing to Vince McMahon like some bitter wrestlers do. So he called Vince personally and talked to him for 2 hours and told him that he is gonna have some matches in NJPW and that they have been planned months before, vince was okay with it, they still text back and forth to this day... Chris Jericho has said he is a WWE guy and still has a great relationship with Vince. So I'm sure be doesn't like him for being disrespectful. Chris Jericho continues to have great matches and great storylines and he reinvents himself better then any wrestler today....he takes good care of himself, most likely a 20 year would drop dead of a heart attack in the ring with Chris Jericho.

Dude's probably just tired. He likely has a lot of shit on his plate. Like, he probably just finished performing, since he was somewhat red, he probably has to talk to interviewers left and right, and he just has to deal with tour life, being away from his family, etc.

Answering the same questions over and over at the end of a long month or however long he's been on tour has to be tough to get through while feigning major enthusiasm.

+Jamie Sutherland What a lot of people don't know is that wrestlers and really any celebrities usually have a number of interviews a day, so this was probably one of many he was doing. Not to mention he looked kind of tired. But I do agree, he could have showed some more enthusiasm or interest in the interview.
Jericho is a very nice and humble guy. Look at his eyes, he's obviously just tired as hell. The dude is a work horse, I'm not surprised.
He looks absolutely shattered and when people hassle him saying he doesn't give a shit then why should he give a shit? It has got to be a tough schedule to keep up with, he didn't have to do the interview but he did. Jericho is truly one of the best in the world and he deserves the utmost respect!

Did Chris just contradict himself? He was saying that no one nowadays is a real heel because what he did was ignore people when they talked to you in public places, not want merchandise, or to be on magazines. Then he was asked if social media hinders the chances of becoming a true heel and he said no because people know that they're only characters. So if people know that they are only characters, what is the need to ignore them in public and everything else he said?

He only acts like a heel to fans when they come up to him before or after a show, but if he was on vacation somewhere and u spotted him he wouldve been normal
He's saying that when they're in character they should act like heels but they're also allowed to be themselves (have their own lives)
+izzi Let's go with his actor analogy it is fine for an actor to have social media but not a character to post out of character unless the story calls for it and with a clear payoff for doing so. Jericho didn't have time to consider how social media makes people believing a face character easier and a heel harder in character or not. Many faces are jerks in person and heel characters can be nice and respectful. People have trouble distinguishing fantasy from reality.

Some of the comments here need to take a step back to fully analyze all the shit Chris does.
He's in a band that is (was) touring, he's contracted for wrestling matches or promos that basically fill in the rest of his time, and somewhere in there he likely tries his damnedest to be a father to his 3 kids and husband to his wife.
Also, he's had a thousand (exaggerated) matches through his career. To recall them all is impossible. Some forgiveness is granted for not remembering them all, but it was nice that he held onto some special few, especially since he's so busy that I doubt he has time to go back and watch all his old matches like we do.
Being under contract with WWE, he's also probably trying to say the right things that haven't either already been confirmed or that Vince doesn't care if it's said in earnest (especially about Vince being an asshole) because it's all for entertainment-sake business. It pumps the interest.

Adam is a solid interviewer. He asked questions that took someone who clearly didn't want to be there to someone who was mildly interested in the conversation.

They're sitting side by side with the camera being in front. He won't turn to face Adam for the entirety of the interview for obvious reasons and won't just stare at the camera. So the natural reaction here is for your eyes to just wander. He answered all the questions fully and in a lot of detail. Why does everyone say he seems like he doesn't want to be there?

In spite of whatever it was in regards to Chris Jericho that made this interview seemingly difficult to watch, let's give some kudos to Adam for simply being able to do this interview, holding his own, and remaining professional. I'm sure CJ will realize that Adam's interview was a benevolent and wholehearted attempt on behalf of us hardcore fans.

I want to read his books after watching this! He talks like a trainer and has a really fascinating look at the psychology of being a heel or face, or putting on your performance, the story line and acting, the chemistry between wrestlers, ect. I particularly liked his stasis on PG vs the Attitude Era, and how a good performer can make either work. He honestly doesn't believe there's a restriction, and that's probably why he's one of the few to successfully ride both face and heel to the top.

I've seen literally hundreds of Chris Jericho interviews... his style can come across like he doesn't give a shit but he is very confident and direct and has answered these same questions for years now. Cut him some slack! Plus is that Vodka in his cup?

I don't think Chris seemed uninterested at all. It's not a formal interview and he's just talking, he's not performing. He is answering the questions honestly and in depth. For example, the first question when he said he didn't follow the question, I don't think it was due to him not paying attention, it just wasn't worded in the best way.
All in all, it was a good interview and he gave good answers.
Ironically, at the end of the interview he teased he may already be done with wrestling, yet he's currently having one of the greatest runs of his career. I don't think he'll ever top the work in 2008 with Shawn Michaels, but Jericho is by far the best thing on WWE TV right now. Well, at least what I see on TH-cam clips lol
Bit of a shame Chris doesn't want to do a retirement match, I always feel they are some of the best and deliver some of the greatest moments in WWE, I mean look at HBK and Ric Flair they were so emotional, whereas Austin for example, no one knew he was wrestling his last match which I think deprived the fans of an amazing moment with one of the greatest of all time.

And also, i'd like to comment on Chris Mentioning Feuds and Storylines around 8:56. I think that's the problem. There's always Feuds in the WWE. Roman and Sheamus, Dolph and Breeze, we're entering one with Del Rio and Swagger at this very moment. But what's lacking is Storylines.

I honestly think the same way as Jericho. If i was a revered wrestler and I knew my retirement was coming I wouldn't plan this giant moment announcing that I'm going to retire. It goes against my natural introverted nature. I'd rather give up wrestling subtly on my own accord than try to dictate a public event and how fans react to my retirement and worst of all, expect people to either give me a proper sendoff or curse my guts for one last time.

It seems like he's thoughtfully considering the questions, but he also seems tired and annoyed. Perhaps this wasn't the best time for an interview. I met the guy at a local event, and he was very nice. But he was also probably well rested, and not being annoyed at the time.
I don't think he was disinterested or bored he looked kinda nervous at first but then seemed to get more comfortable towards the end
