I like to do a small layout design occasionally as well. It can develop quickly and allow me to move on to the next project. I've just completed my most complex design yet (62'x43' with over 300 turnouts) and I'm happy that the new design project is a lot smaller.
This is very interesting. My father recently passed away and I know in his posession he has some HO stuff he never built anything with that he got before I was born (almost 40 years ago) and a whole bunch of 3 rail O scale track and his old O scale train from when he was a boy (Something that I as a teenager lost the loop of track and board it was nailed to for) to so I bought him new track at a flea market for around $5 for a huge bucket as the seller couldn't find a buyer for it, only for the trains he had. I'm not saying I have time / Space to have a layout in either scale However I know that of my fathers 3 sons I'm the only one into trains in any way so I would assume if it were passed on and not destined for sale it would end up with me. If any of it does I'll have to go through it and see what if anything I can make of it because it would be a shame to have it sit around doing nothing (Especially the O scale train set as I remember playing with it as a child and I now have a son of my own who is 4)
Dang. Good job ! And you work entirely by your self? ( not including muscle to move chunks) ? So yeah that would keep you busy for awhile. And have that nice big shop to work it in!
Love seeing small designs. Helps to inspire those of us with little space

A very strait forward design. Thanks, Peter

Average cost?
Looks like a nice plan👍
Nice!, but 2025, ( also nice ) but makes me wonder how big is that big ho layout going to be?
Approx 21x47'
2 full decks + 2 partial decks
Six yards
271 turnouts
1KM of track
An estimated three miles of wire
