I'm no expert, in fact exactly the opposite, but I'm guessing that the skill involved in making something this delicate are up around the stratospheric level. A truly elegant little goblet.
I have tried so many times.. and failed every single time. I don't know why though but I never considered this order of operations! So will consider that for the new year!
The number of times I questioned WTF are you doing equals the number of times I admired the sharpness of your chisels. Another wonderful piece Andy. Happy holidays.
For some reason this reminds me of Christmas. Something maybe one of the three wisemen would’ve brought to the manger to drink from ❤️🎄 Merry Christmas Andy
my heart was in my mouth when I saw how thin the stem was..it would have been all to easy for it to snap but you have such skill of course that wasn’t going to happen! Hope you have a very happy Christmas ❤
I think that is the first time I have seen it done under 'Tension', Not that I make my stems that long or as thin. I use a tennis or squash ball as a 'Steady, once I start on the stem. Very nice. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the family Andy.
Really enjoyed watching you fashion art from waste. I would wager you capable of making silk purse ........as the saying goes, or a fine goblet from firewood. Thanks as always
Hi Andy, Happy Christmas from Montreal. That is really beautiful. A true "Cool Steady Hand" kind of turn !!! Amazing, how steady a hand you have to turn a piece of fine art such as this. Now, my question, could you turn another just like it ?? I thought to myself as you were turning this.
Hi Andy, Another very nice project! One question. was the pith in the center of the stem? From what I could see it looked like it was. If so, the small amount of remaining wood around the pith was strong enough to support the delicate goblet. The bark left on the base was wonderful. Happy Holidays, Myles
Okay, I've never seen duct tape used like that. Is that effective? I'll have to try that. Happy holidays Andy, here's to a good year and more awesome creations.🎉😁
Where's the wine. Let's have a sip or two, but I'll let you use the giraffe goblet. I'm too afraid of snapping its neck. Lol. Good work and keep on producing more.
Fine man! Just rub it in our faces that we have to go out and buy expensive shit while you can just go to your pile of firewood to make something amazingly delicate and pretty like this. That you have the skill, eye and sense of proportion to actually turn anything into a great piece. Merry christmas, asshole! :D Keep being awesome! I love your work!
I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination and my wood identification skills are minimal: but that wood looks like a Birch type to me. Would you confirm that it is Ash please so that it helps me identify more accurately. Reagrds
I'm no expert, in fact exactly the opposite, but I'm guessing that the skill involved in making something this delicate are up around the stratospheric level. A truly elegant little goblet.
A vontade de aprender e o tempo dedicado no trabalho, juntamente com certo dom natural sao componentes de um trabalho excepcional
Getting the stalk that thin, without break it
So difficult
I have tried so many times.. and failed every single time. I don't know why though but I never considered this order of operations! So will consider that for the new year!
Good morning 🎉
I'm so glad you left the bark on the base...that was a classy touch.
Me too 😍
Lovely, the bark around the base adds a special touch.
The number of times I questioned WTF are you doing equals the number of times I admired the sharpness of your chisels. Another wonderful piece Andy. Happy holidays.
Thanks .. same to you
Wow... so elegant and fragile. Love the bark on the foot. Well done Andy! Wishing you merry Christmass with your loved ones.
Thanks..
That is amazing. And so thin. I can't even imagine the sheer talent that would take.

Sir your video perfect 💯 I m big fan ❤
Very nice, for a firewood piece this turned out great, I love the duct tape.
Hmmm. I've turned a number of goblet-type things but never thought about the Stretcharoo technique. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing!
Find it better than pressure on thin stems 👍
Well done Andy.
Thanks 👍
That's beautiful, Andy. I was kind of expecting a captive ring at first but it didn't really need it.
Bill
Thanks Bill .. I nearly put one on
Amazing!
Nice work 👍
Thanks 👍
Amazing

Thanks .. same too you.. I usually use the ball method but find the thin stems can easily snap under pressure
Now _that_ was different. I've never seen you use duct tape like that before. Nice results. Have a Merry Christmas!
thanks same to you
Merry Christmas to you all , stay safe and warm or cool like me as it will be 37c here in Adelaide on Christmas day. Till next year
I always enjoy your goblets but they make me very nervous.
C'est superbe
All you need is the wine for that beautiful goblet.
so pretty
Duct tape steady rest idea..genius
Nice wood
ربما مشاهدات الفيديو ستعوضك هذا الجهد والتعب ، أما هذا الكوب سينكسر قبل العودة من مكان العمل😅
WOW!
Really enjoyed watching you fashion art from waste. I would wager you capable of making silk purse ........as the saying goes, or a fine goblet from firewood. Thanks as always
Привет из Калининграда! Спасибо за видео!!! Класс!!! 👍👍👍
Wow
Both thumbs? Love to hear that story. "There I was alone in the African bush, surrounded by rabid porcupines..."
LOL .. I will use that story its much better than the real one
😍👍

Thanks .. it was pretty much centre but you can see the pith on the stem
Да сделай уже на конец то просто скалку)))
Beautiful work Andy - what finish did you use?
Thanks .. I used tung oil
Dainty!
Okay, I've never seen duct tape used like that. Is that effective? I'll have to try that. Happy holidays Andy, here's to a good year and more awesome creations.🎉😁
Thanks .. better method for thin stems as pressure can make them snap easier

Making something along the grain of the tree - what have you done to Andy?!
👋👍
I hope the lacquer is wine resistant.
It was tung oil .. but just drink it fast
What is the wood? Did I miss you mentioning it?
It is ash
its Ash

Merry christmas, asshole!
:D
Keep being awesome! I love your work!
😂 Thanks
Now be honest, how many goblets did you break before that one? I can't believe that was your first take. 😆
Luckily none 😂
Do you not believe in Jesus. Andy??? If not I'll pray for you, excellent job by the 😂
I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination and my wood identification skills are minimal: but that wood looks like a Birch type to me. Would you confirm that it is Ash please so that it
helps me identify more accurately. Reagrds
Yes it is Ash. I had to cut it down due to Ash dieback
Peeling taters?
What’s taters?
🥔 PO-TA-TOES 🥔 😂
@scootymcfloof. Must be a yankee
You always fail at making me unhappy with any of you're creations. Merry XMAS. OOPS forgot to bring this: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
My TH-cam channel not mointize 😢
Ficou fino demais esse corpo aí.
Desproporcional.

It's NOT XMAS ! So I gave you a thumbs down and don't care to watch.
