Going from singing Italian Opera to French, and I swear, this language is as dangerous to learn as it is to sing. Beautiful, but so difficult for me right now!
As a professional opera singer and non native, I appreciated this very much. A big issue for me is though: In spoken french, I always pronounce the nasals well. However, for example the õ like in ‘allons’ is difficult to sing closed enough. In this aria there aren’t any, but i.e. in the Carmen aria (votre toast…) that problem exists. I find that most non natives have trouble doing the õ nasal, but I (having studied in France) find the opposite difficult: making it sound natural, but still projecting my voice enough etc. Many french natives seem to open it up more. What’s your opinion on that as a coach?
i listen no difference, between de slashed 0 symbol ( like in "feux" ) and the inverse "e" symbol (the french letter E ) , help me, do i have no good ears ?
It might be worth considering putting into "Ted talk" style which often come with an interactive transcript that would allow anyone to see both kinds of lyric side by side and also touch the line to replay it.
