Great thanks for your vids from a tall Dutchie! Improving my surfing substantially because of your input... many thanks and keep up the good work!!!🙏🙏🙏
Love the speed overlay. Would be great to have on some learning to carve gybe videos. I’ve just been getting better at controlling planing at 35 to 40km/h in small chop and wondering if that is the right speed to try planing entry. Looks like the answer is yes.
30knots plus and a lot of it will be fine tuning the kit… and finding the right spot… in this video I didn’t find flat enough water when the wind was strong enough to go at any special speeds!
I took lessons to improve my jibes. The instructor gave me exercises I could also do on the lake, like carving at high speed to practice entering the jibe with gusto. I go into the jibe at 40 km/h and the instructor said that my positioning on entry is great now. However, I cannot manage to get the board past fully downwind. I always stop before I can flip the rig. Seeing you go around the corners so easily really drives me nuts! My new objective is to decidedly not watch my hands/rig/feet and look into the new direction. I also think it might be better to switch my stance first and flip the sail once I am on my new course and still planing. That by the way is an issue on both fin and foil.
Maybe play with just carving the board through the turn and not worry about the rig for a bit… once you’re making it round you can then start to play with the rig again and think about powering out!
On a very gusty day in Vass in August this year I broke my speed record by 3 knots. Got up to 30.9 knots (57.7kmh). And there was a bigger gust about to hit when I bailed at top speed out of fear. My kit carried on for quite a bit without me. (MagicRide 109/ Duotone Supersession 6.3 / age: 52)
@@horsemadf1 I think it was a backwinded carve tack as he did it on the plane. He went round the sail from the front but he was bearing off the wind at the same time :) That's my humble opinion only of course... I'm still progressing through windsurfing but it's such a great and highly underrated sport!
@@horsemadf1 It wasnt a tack. Think of it like a duck gybe but going around the front of the mast, instead of the going under the clew of the sail. Dont know what it is called.

Thanks! 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for sharing your gear and wind speed, it's good to have some references...!!!

Yes! Simply go broad and fast when entering the gybe!
My record is 29,64knots (54km/h) after that my medium gear starts to fly out of control. Time to get my bodyweight up or a weightfest.

Love it! Have you ever been to The Netherlands?
Thanks… but no never been!
@@Cookiesports when I come to Vassiliki, what can I bring for you? 😊
@@chrislearnswindsurfing wind and good vibes please!
Allways :) @@Cookiesports
Looks so much faster than it really is , but at what point you reach 81km/ph or should it be m/ph ?
camera angles can fool you :)
Haha! 81kph is 43 knots!… not much chance of hitting those speeds in the chop here!
@@Cookiesports on that kit!
Cool
😎
Oh man, from the thumbnail pic i thought we were going to see you go 80kph
Sorry no- went pretty fast at points though. Did you spit the high speed backwind gybe!?
Yes, big spit. Wasn't high speed till i got spat though. @@Cookiesports
Great!!! What watch was this?

What is the watch model ? 😮

Heart rate 90-100 what the fuck... I record my windsurfing and my heart rate is near 140-160 most of the moments LMAO.
Relax! 🧘♀️
How strong /(weak) was the wind ? 15/18 knts ?
He says a patchy 15 - 20kts
Yes… not so strong and many lulls to get through!
Apparently I am too old for this shit. 😢. Cannot go faster than 38km/h in Vassiliki this year.
No ! Not too old keep going
39yo here, started windsurfing at 37, my top speed on freeride board is 53km/h, just the right gust at the right moment :) keep hanging on!
Keep going! 🤩🤩
We have many great speed sailors in their late 60's and 70's.

Whatever it was it was pretty impressive.. A fast tack?

@@RainbowBelow It was very impressive ! I've seen some really fast normal tacks but they don't carve like that.

Its a backwind gybe th-cam.com/users/shortsQQ7PvbmdO0U
