Sure, abuse might be a contributing factor in many cases but I think gender dysphoria is much more complex than that and can be caused by many different things.
I tend to believe in the current culture of everything goes, gender dysphoria has been overly simplified as a personal choice. But, I believe it is a malady of the brain function and environmental conditions that are based on trauma. Individuals are not being treated clinically because the psychiatric profession has criminally failed individuals with gender dysphoria , along with millions of people suffering from mental illness,
