Good to see volunteering at work. I am not sure what cuttoff wheel you used but can I HIGHLY recommend using a "diamond" cutoff wheel on the angle grinder. I tried one from Aliexpress and it is AWESOME. Both for cutting metal AND not wanting to break and cut your face in half. The way people use angle grinders frankly scares me half to death. 12000 RPM inches from your body with a blade that is somewhat brittle - and many without any guarding....... Whether they last longer, provide greater efficiency (no dia change) etc to me are nice but not breaking - golden. It also surprises me that wheelchairs still use std. bike wheels. A wheel with zero outboard protrusion from either the tyre or hand rim, depending on the wheelchair type, would seem to offer a way to narrow them up with no space loss for the user.
I'm using a 1mm thick cut off wheel. I'll have to see about the diamond version. Sounds interesting. I have two big cringes on youtube. One is people using angle grinders without the guard. The other is people welding without at least gloves and a helmet. Cowboy stuff (with apologies to all the cowboys out there. When you see what professional welders wear to weld, you wonder why some of these people haven't taken the hint.
Fortunately not, although we do have a volunteer who specialises in upholstery. The 70mm was chosen (by the client) as being just enough without having to touch the seating.
Very nicely done, thanks for sharing! And thank you for your volunteering spirit, helping those in need!
All volunteers welcome - I've found over the years that it is one of many things that help me improve my skills.
Very interesting. Nice work sir. Good on you for helping disabled people.
Thanks

Thx for the vid.
No probs.
Did you have to modify the upholstered bits as well?
