Where there's no law, there's no justice. Your leaders in those cities are still in charge and calling the shots. They have no remorse for the cities they rule and they feel the same way about the United States. Trump must win and he WILL do something about the leaders of these cities/States that destroy their cities for those who are law abiding citizens. I despise them, and not a nickel to fix it should be given.

So yea, Democrats are in there to my dismay but regardless of Red or Blue their lack of doing their due diligence should land both their asses’ in jail as far as I’m concerned.

It wasn't violence or protesting that ruined our town but all can be blamed on "Progress"....meaning, they tore-apart our beautiful quaint park to run a highway right straight thru. Plus, they stuck a Burger King smack in the middle of town.....our town is very small. Add to that our main street is pretty much gone due to the small family stores closing. The malls did that and now all you need is tumble-weed blowing down the street. On any given day you might see three people walking down main street. The above could be said for hundreds of towns in the U.S. Pretty sad, indeed.

We were there in the beginning of last August and it did start looking pretty yucky compared to the years before, but that was you know during the riots in between a cleanup night. Where we were in the hotel we stayed at 9.0 so I was shocked to see all the graffiti and all the nonsense around it. There was this lovely club connected to it that was for private members and a nice little park and homeless people everywhere. I was like wow! I have visited the city since like 2006 and I’ve never seen it look so terrible! Black lives matter those supporting defunding the police got exactly what they wanted a mass exodus of officers saying fuck it we’re done. That is so sad because officers are there to protect and serve and most of them do exactly that! When somebody tries to rob you or kill you you’re going to call 911 for their expertise and assistance but who are they going to call now? where’s the hazmat team’s detectives what is the president doing, nothing! I remember the mayor being pissed off at President Trump for providing the cops with federal aid and other stuff to help with the riots. He was mad! What a dip shit! Joe’s doing nada as usual.

Leaders cannot be seen as weak because criminals have now formed MOBS.....AND NO ONE IS SAFE ANYWHERE IN PORTLAND....I moved out last year and hate what's happening there. My old SE neighborhood has clusters of homeless camps and the stores are closing due to crazy high taxes(30k for the corner store who cried to me that she can't make it anymore and is closing), garbage, theft, cracked out people wandering around. I bet there's a lot that doesn't thrive in Texas. Like tolerance, maybe.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." - US Constitution, First Amendment
There seem to be many Trump supporters that think the US was founded on Judeo-Christian principals. My mother-in -law for one. I showed her this text from the Constitution and she was about to burst a blood vessel. The founders were setting up a free country based on pluralism, and that truth just fries the Religious Fascists. I don't get what the big problem is. Getting along with neighbors is a lot more fun than bing scared of them. But I guess Austin, Texas just really bugs some of the people in this thread. Too bad..... I bet those musicians and coffee shop owners and gay clothing shops aren't trying hard to keep other texans from driving pickups with gun racks and such.
But tolerance is a fairly liberal idea. Too bad the Founders were so liberal. But they were.

Jon Achaval? Arrested? For what? The same thing would have happened no matter who was in office. This is a systemic nationwide problem. No simple answers. The Portland Police and the Sheriffs dept are on board with the mayor. People have the right to gather and protest. I know what you are going to say. They do not have the right to loot, vandalize or riot. You are right. I agree. The problem is that there is more than just the protesters downtown. The people that participate and vandalize, number in the dozens to maybe a hundred. The daytime protesters have numbered in the thousands and usually go home long before the BS starts. Most of the arrested have been arrested long after midnight. If you commit a crime you should have to pay the consequences. I agree with that. Lumping all the activities downtown to into one big pile will not solve anything. Many are there for the right reasons and protest peacefully. I see the bigger problem downtown as all of the homeless camps popping up everywhere. The homeless have been here for years but the numbers I see recently are 10 times that. Where are all of them coming from? I was downtown yesterday and I saw at least 3 homeless people sobbing uncontrollably. Two were just standing on the corner crying. One woman in her 50's with a walker with wheels was asking us for help, but she was sobbing so hard we could not understand her. We walked her to the corner where there is a center to deal with homelessness. Things are bad people. Blaming does no good.

I’ve run marathons all over the United States. NYC, Las Vegas, San Diego, Chicago, DC, Atlanta, Nashville, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Pittsburg, Hartford, etc. You can get a good look at a city in 26.2 miles. Without a doubt, Portland was by far the cleanest city at the time I had ever visited. I have remarked many times on how clean that city was.

I don't see why we are letting the 0.05% of the the population bully us and have their way with out city. most of my friends on FaceBook don't speak up, and I think I know why. Cancel Culture!! My company even has a new policy that you can't say anything political if it offends someone. Not hard to do in portland. Hence my new name. I think it's going to take all of us using our voice at once and coming together in unity and saying " This is not OK, and it needs to stop!" My daughter recently asked when we were going to go back and I told her that we couldn't because its just not the same as it used to be right now... but we will when things turn around. I used to be a supporter of the BLM movement but I no longer am.. I still support equality and the end of racism... but I hate the actual MOVEMENT and no longer support it. They screwed themselves over and pushed so many supporters away with this behavior and outcome. Oregon needs a new leader. We will never see Portland turn around with out a republican leader.... and that is coming from someone that doesn't consider themselves a republican.... I truly think this is the only way to fix what has happened to Portland. Seeing the state of Oregon/Portland is pushing me quickly out of the democratic party. The mayor is a disgrace to let this happen and then expect the American people bail him out.

Max, if you’re sick of the violence and Fascism, VOTE BIDEN/Harris and our Country will finally have a REAL PRESIDENT instead of FOREVER IMPEACHED TRAITOR TRUMP!
Biden / Harris will end the division and hate and then Americans will UNITE AND DESTROY THE VIRUS!
And Americans will have their just bs and economy back up and running.
But if you are ok with the NEVER-ENDING CRISIS TRAITOR TRUMP has caused if you’re sick of the WORST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN US HISTORY AND WORST ECONOMY IN US HISTORY, Trump will only deliver more disaster, more deaths, more riots and more TRAITOR TRUMP TREASON!
Biden/Harris will make certain the orange rapist pays for his felonies and treason! Belongs in PRISON!

I see poverty and graffiti, which implies desperation and hopelessness. Looks like Portland needs to take a hard look at who they voted in and perhaps vote them out.

@@stevdarshaki4378 The people in this thread are against speech when it disagrees with them. They are afraid of art and expression and think the homeless are something they need to "clean up". I'm proud of Portland and that there's always been a small but strong subculture here of true resistance to authoritarianism. I wish it were as consequential as the trumpian propaganda machine claims it is. Maybe someday.

Kate Brown and Ted Wheeler created this mess and are so selfish they can’t seem to admit they ruined Portland.
